I use to see tons of topics on the hood shocks, props, lifts, whatever you call them. I'll be *beeped* if I can't find them when doing a search now. I installed some on my friends S2000 this past weekend and as a result they got bumped up on my mod list.
Who has what and how do you like them?
BTW: He's a long time good friend that why I was working on a Honda.

Do they open them wider than standard? The ones I installed this weekend were nice in that they prop that hood way open. Good for working in the engine bay.

I like the ones from CDC. They are smaller and don't extend halfway down the fender. Just paint the bracket to match your car and they look great.

After checking out the above lifts, I would just as soon stick with the prop. Its on other 3 vehicles, I don't see it as problem. One prop or two Redline long shocks with 8 new holes, to me its a wash. The MRT is compact, but to me their hood bracket is not visually appealing.
I would like to see the chrome props for show come back.

MRT all the way. That's what I'll be installing soon

I just installed the MRTs last week, they really work quite nice. Yes the bracket looks a little funky with all the holes but they work perfect and it's an incredibly easy install. I did it in about 10 minutes in my freezing garage with one 10mm socket.

I'm a big fan of the Redline's. That's what's on my 'vert
The MRT's are nice, but I can't deal with that ugly bracket that looks like it came from a giant erector set.

Hood lfts were not a priority for me until I was at a local car show and a guy swung around and hit the prop - it held but sure got got me interested in struts. Went with the MRT, painted them the body color - they do open wider than the prop

So who is using hood struts that dont have a big bracket with lots of holes. Redline I believe you have to use rivets or something. I want a strut thats good quality with only one hole and a small bracket like stock that bolts up with no changes or rivets. Only ones I have seen like this are on ebay, and I don't really like buying on ebay unless I have too. Thanks for any suggestions.

[attachmentid=46354][attachmentid=46355][attachmentid=46356]OK, so I got my MRT hood stuts yesterday. After reading several posts on different brands I decided to go with MRT because they were more out of they way than others I've seen and they did not require any drilling. And yes, they were more expensive than others also. But I really like them. They went on easy, 10 minutes tops.
They look good. I got the powder coated black ones and even with the big hood bracket they still look good to me.
I don't have pics yet but I'll post some as soon as I can.
I will say that whichever brand you go with, hood struts are a great mod. They really make the engine bay look a lot cleaner without the prop rod and you don't have it in the way so you get more access room. They also open the hood a little more than the rod. IMO a good idea.

After seeing pics of the MRT powder coated black hood struts on Brad's and Gary's car I'm sold. Will be ordering them today.
