I noticed the gap between my hood and the passenger side front quarter panel is much wider than the gap between the hood and the drivers side front quarter panel. Can I adjust the left right hood alignment easily or does it have to go the the dealer? Thanks for any info. :worship:

i'd just take it to the dealer if I were you. If you scratch something, its your problem, if they scratch it, its theirs

Thats what I'm afraid of. It is not something that someone else will notice. I see it so it bothers me. I'd rather have the hood slightly misaligned left to right than have it damaged by the dealer trying to adjust it and have to get it painted. I wish it was owner adjustable.

Safest bet is take it back to the dealer- if you chip it, its your problem...

I havent messed with my hood yet- but the fenders are the first Ive ever seen on a car witout a shim or slotted adjustment holes...took them off to undercoat, put back on without having to align anything...thought that was pretty impressive factory assembly- looks kinda like they spotweld the nuts in from a jig, then fender just bolts up...

Removing hoods makes me nervous- but adjusting one(IF holes are slotted) should be relatively safe- just gotta be VERY careful nothing rubs when test closing, or its time for a repaint...
if holes are non-adjustable like fenders, I'd be wondering what happened. only alignment issues on mine was front and rear bumper covers on pass side stick out a tad- had hoped to straighten when putting fenders back on, but holes in bumper seem a bit off- its a little better now, but still not right...

I've seen several 05's with the hood gap on the passenger side slightly wider, and I wouldn't have any problems with having the dealer's body shop take a look at it. Surely, they could take a look at it and tell you if there is any adjustment. It might be a 2 person job, and you shouldn't have to do it.

A Ford salesman told me that the Mustang has no shims anywhere, and parts off one car can be used on another without any adjustment. I thought that was pretty impressive.

There should be some adjustment in the hood hinges. If not, they might be abe to widen the bolt holes and move the hood slightly.
