I think this thread got a bit out of hand. My original thread had the listing of cars and a slight description of what I thought. Please allow me to elaborate. I don't know who said a 2003 Vette because that won't happen. And I meant a standard WRX not an STi jeez gimme a little credit. And the debate on the 350Z and Q35, track version or not aren't very fast quarter mile cars. Been there, owned one not impressed, especially by the chuck wagon suspension. And when I said "Hit List" these are cars I wish to race not cars I expect to beat the first time, the descriptions at the end of the list were meant to be humorous for the most part. And where I say modifications, I believe I have a slight difference of opinion on, some people thinnk mods, they think cold are after cat. I think mods I think port and polish, blower and forged internals. I don't play with my modifications, and yes the aftermarket may take time, but I'm stuck in Iraq 330 days of the year, all I have is time.

Well, I'm not buying the new Mustang, at least for 05. I do know that after years of running LS1s F-Twins I'm gunning for them when I get my C6. Payback time!
BTW, don't street race. :nono:

Although there are probably no cars under $25K that can take the Mustang in a 0-60 contest (I'm not sure if that's actually anything to brag about), there are, unfortunately, quite a few over that price point that will smoke the '05 GT.
To avoid potential embarrassment , you might not want to challenge the following:
BMW M3 (the current one - and there's an 8 cylinder version replacement coming!)
BMW M5 (10 cylinders, 500 bhp)
Audi S4 (8 cylinders, 400 bhp)
Mercedes E55 AMG
Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG
Corvette C6 AND C5
Cadillac CTS-V
Dodge Viper
Chrysler 300C SRT-8
2006 Dodge Charger (maybe)
Tuscan TVR
Jaguar XK8
The upcoming sub 5 second Supra
Pretty much anything from Porsche
Anything from Ferrari
Anything from Lambroghini
Anything from Maseratti
Anything from Aston Martin
Pickin' on long-in-the-tooth Z28s, or four cylinder ricers ain't no puzzle (although the Subaru WRX STi is another story - add that to your potential embarrassment list). Beating thoroughbred imports...now we're talking!
What I REALLY want to see is a 350+ bhp, sub 5 second SE, like a Shelby or Bullitt that can at least challenge the above. And, of course, the 450+ Cobra will probably be able to take on all but the most stout of heart in the above list.

I don't race that often but it sure is fun to dust a honda now and then.

Actually I plan on maybe twin turbos. I figured that if an 03 cobra can beat some of those cars stock then I will just need to make like 600hp or so and a complete suspension maybe a griggs and replace the front seats and get rid of the back seats. That plus the usual boltons should take care of it. I have driven a bunch of those cars and none of them are two crazy. Only the high up Porches like the twin turbo and the Ferrari. I raced an 03 cobra in my friends Maseratti and the cobra won and all he had was a 2.80" pulley and drag radials. So when you look at it my goals are not that unrealistic.

Only because the Vette driver revd to high -causing it to skip sideways.
Any car can be beat with any car if the driver isn't prepared. B)

Although the turbos will be used vastly for my driving pleasure and not much else

Stock vs stock
I pretty sure that 05 GT would be able to smoke:
Evo fom a roll
350z
WRX
G35
GTO 04
M3 (240hp)
SRT-4
the following will be a driver's race:
WRX Sti from a roll
EVO
Mach 1
F-body lt1
will get smoked by:
GTO 05
F-body ls1
corvette C5/6
WRX Sti from a dig
M3 (333hp)
Modded vs Modded is a whole different & compliacted story. . . .

Well, after the introduction issues that covers the 05 from front to back and inside and out it should only take a month or two for the comparison issues to come out.
