The dealership that I'm currently working with says they accept the X-Plan for the 2006 GT. However, twice during separate communications, they have mentioned that they will support it "as long as the plan doesn't change". They always follow that up with somehting to the effect of, "we don't plan on that happening".
How often has the plan changed in the past? Are they just being safe so they don't put themselves in an unprofitable situation...or are they setting me up for a scenario where the X-Plan was "A plan + 4%", but now it's "A plan + 4.05%"...hence a change...hence they won't support the plan any longer (once it arrives on the lot)?
Maybe I'm getting paranoid...but if any of you that have used the X-Plan in the past can let me know how often it changes...I would appreciate it.

Sorry, I don't know how often it changes, but that does sound like a backdoor for the dealer to me. Ford rewording the plan (but making no actual changes) could constitute a "change" to the dealer, then you'd be SOL.

The only change I've seen is the eligible companies. I'd make them be specific on what change would no longer make the x-plan available to you and get the only acceptible reasons in writing up front.

There was a small change a couple years ago, it went from APLAN + 4% to APLAN + 4% + $150.00. I do not know whay the extra 150...

The latest change (as of 4/25/05) is that the dealers are now allowed to charge a documentation fee. I don't see your deal falling through due to the dealer being able to tack on more charges.

Thanks for the input everyone.
This particular dealership "seems" pretty good to me (wait until I show up to pick up my 06 and they've sold it to someone else), but I just wanted to make sure an X-Plan change didn't occur every year or anything like that.
Thanks again.

I haven't been able to get "Fordpartners" web site to come up! Is anybody else having trouble with it?

So everyone is saying to get the Buyer's Order signed by the sales manager...but is there a legal difference in getting the Buyer's Order signed by people with titles such as General Sales Manager, Sales Manager, New Car Manager. The dealership I'm working with has all three and I didn't want to get the Sales Manager or New Car Manager to sign something and later find out that only the General Sales Manager's sig in legally binding.
Thanks

The form I have has a spot for buyers signature & below that it has a line for managers signature. It doesn't specify which manager. I live in Illinois.

You guys alarmed me about the changes with the document fees. It looks like that was quickly overturned the next day... from fordpartners.com

How It Works

Version 1.01 posting date: 4/26/05

"The dealership may also NOT charge separately for document preparation fees, vehicle preparation fees or other administrative services incidental to the delivery of the vehicle on a Partner Recognition Program - X Plan sale. "
