I ordered my GT Premium 2/16/05 from Sunset Ford in the Phoenix area for less than MSRP and got priority 10 on my order. I think that Sunset Ford is a great dealer. I previously bought a new Expedition in 97 from them and was treated very well.

3K under sticker...Wow you got a deal! and yes if people call around and are willing to drive a little, there are good deals (dealers) around. Not all dealers operate like Earnhardt does but lots of them still do business that way. My dealer has been awarded the Presidents Award several times for outstanding customer service and he was happy to give me X-plan.

Yes earnhardt usually rips people a new one, but i deal with them for parts for my shop, so im on a good relationship with them. Plus i didnt want the tan interior, but thats all that was in the phoenix area in a 5 speed when i bought mine and i didnt pay for the upgraded dash.

Power Ford in Huntington Beach California, $4,000.00 over sticker.
Both of these cars were STOCK, with NO mods or dealer add ons. This stupid mark up is why I don't have a Torch Red GT in my garage right now. I refuse to pay over sticker and I am willing to wait till supply catches up with demand.

These dealers should be carefull though, price gougeing will drive customers away and they may never come back. Just on principle alone. We are all enthusiast here, but Joe average car buyer is likely to see that mark up and say, "If he's screwing a customer on this car, what will he do to me?"

I think the dealers should just sell them at sticker and make up the profit margin in volume. This gougeing is gonna leave a bad taste in peoples mouths. :nono:

I went to Woodfield Ford in Schaumburg, IL (about 15 miles from here), they wanted 5k over sticker, no test drives. To heck with that garbage. I ended up going to Zimmerman Ford in St. Charles, IL and got to test drive my car before I bought it, and only paid sticker. No one around here is discounting these cars right now and most are marking them up.

Personally I don't think you're missing out on much. I think they are pretty ugly. And kind of plain looking.

Imagine if they finance and wreck the thing on the way home. They will be out a ton of money. My guess is they will never get it back on resale either. Talk about throwing money away.

I 100% agree with this quote and had thought about starting a topic on it. 99.9% of people equate a dealership as the manufactuer. They give you cruddy service and a bad price you blame the make. I really thing Ford motor co. needs to step in and put a stop to the blatant price gouging and the overt lies their dealerships are doing. Even though there IS a bit of supply and demand inbalance right now there is no call for some of the extreme mark-ups and gimmicks.

Throwing cruddy chrom rims and $2.00 vinyl stripes does not justify a $5k+ mark-up. I had to yell at my dealership NOT to put those ugly ghetto bling 20 inch rims on my car and had to haggle with excellent credit and good down payment just to get MSRP. I had to get up and gather my things 3 times before I got sticker, and no way would I have bent even though I really wanted the car.

It's actually RARE to see a V6 on a lot without gigantic chrome rims and the wrinkled vinyl stripes now, thats all they have in stock, the GT's are going for an average of 3-5k mark-up. It's rediculous. Ford wants to get back in the black, they should put the hammer down on these greedy dealerships. They are destroying the image Ford is trying to rebuild.

On a side note, it's pretty obvious people ARE paying the mark-up, or dealerships would have dropped them by now.. It really is disgusting the amount of greed these people are showing.

Except for that ebay auction. You guys are only finding rookie dealers. The pros up here in washington... Bill Pierre in Lake City had a $10k over. And Evergreen in Issaquah had $8k over. When I talked to the salesman at Bill Pierre. He told me I could ignore the markup. I asked him why tehy put it on if I could ignore it. He wouldn't answer me.

I bought my '06 GT from Sunset Ford in Westminster, CA. They had $6k over sticker on this car. The salesman told me I could ignore this price, but later the finance and sales manager grinded me harder than I've ever been ground when buying a new car.
They acted like they were doing me the biggest favor in the world by knocking off the dumb inflated $6k.

I ended up getting it for $500 under MSRP, along with an acceptable amount for my trade-in. Seems like a good deal to you guys?

Oh yea our Northwest dealers definatly got them beat. The dealers in Vancouver/Portland were doing 10k on GT's and 5 - 6 on 6's.

Depending on the salesman you can get it knocked off.
