This morning's broadcast messages from Ford showed TSB 06-09-09 describing a fix for the dreaded hesitation after a highway cruise, but link inside site would not work. Found out it was pulled as of this PM. Will monitor Ford for changes and repost when TSB is available.

 

Should be just in time for my first oil change. "Yes, I'd like my complimentary oil change and a new fuel pump as described in TSB 06-09-09 thank you." "Yes, I am a member of the Mustang Source."

Has anyone recorded this happening without it being after highway speeds?
I had this happen to me once (and only once thank God) as I was leaving work. The car had been idle for 3-4 hours.

 

I do not believe this is a hardware issue, but more than likely a PCM update-I am not even sure which engine is involved.

 

Well, when I am wrong I admit it. Fuel pump is the answer. Here is the doc.

Sorry for my ignorance, do they have to remove the gaz tank or can it be accessed fromm inside the car (under the carpet ) ?

And I guess reading the TSB we have to ensure that the part is Rev "C"

 

time to get my fuel pump and shaker replaced.

Yippee!! [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banana.gif[/img] I am so stoked that this TSB is finally in the works. And if it doesn't fix the problem, at least it means they are trying to address it.

This happens to me all the time. Sometimes after highway cruising and sometimes after around town driving. A major pain in the rear! [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif[/img]

 

Talking to a buddy about this he told me that certain 2005 were recalled for a fuel pump issue, I have not heard about any recall for this other than this new TSB.

On a another note, I spoke to my dealer about this new TSB and he is telling me that he cannot yet order the new part as the part number is not yet confirmed.

The TSB has a PN on it, that should be it, no?

 

Mine hesitates when I first start it and pull out of my parking spot after work. Only seems to happen then.

I wonder if the TSB will fix it?

 

This is good news. I haven't had it happen in a while but it definitely describes a problem I've had. Would this be considered some kind of recall work, or will they only replace the fuel pump based on customer complaint?

 

Based on customer complaint. Just printout the TSB when you bring the car in for service. Lets them know you know more about the car than they do. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]

 

How long is a long cruise? I do not know if this is my exact problem. Sometimes, (even when I am driving in traffic) after I have come to a complete stop and proceed to move again, my rpm's drop to about 250 when I let up off the clutch and I have to give it gas right away. Before, I could make the car move by just finding the clutch release point. Anybody experience this?

 

I have had 2 times where when I was on the interstate for a while I hit the gas and the car feels like I hit the fuel cutoff and the noise dives untill I let off the gas. It seems it might happen after im in cursecontrol for a while. Never anyotehr time...is this the tsb for that? I kinda remember reading about problems after you had cruse on for a while.

 

Just an FYI -- On April 21, I reported this TSB coming out but they didn't have the number for the TSB yet.

I am very happy to see that Ford has finally addressed this issue. I have been living with it for over a year now. Because of my 60+ mile one way daily commute, this problem affects me several times a week. I'm now in the habit of 'clearing' the problem by downshifting to 4th gear and flooring the accelerator while exiting the interstate each day. It hesitates once or twice like the throttle is being closed very quickly and then I'm good to go. I'll be glad when I don't have to do that anymore as it's a bit violent and probably not the best thing for my car.

I'm with you LimeGT. My commute (although its only 1/4 of yours) has all the right accelerations and decelerations in just the right order, I guess, to make this happen to me almost every other day. I've gotten pretty good at feeling out when it is about to happen so I have kept the car from doing it on a freeway speed acceleration. But man, I don't want to have to pay attention to it like this all the time and deal with it anymore! I am SOOO happy that a TSB is on its way.

 

Does this apply to the V6 also? Mine has poor throttle responce after a 10 in drive. I start out good but when I have been driving, and I need to step on it the car hesitates and then jumps to life. Is that whats been happening to you guys too?
