If you look carefully at how I bent the hangers, you will see that the amount of adjustment required can't be accomodated through simple adjustment of the pipes on my car. I'm going to wait and see if the shims will cause any problems. They don't seem to cause any more leakage than if I left the shims out. I also managed to get both tips even in terms of depth. They're practically flush with the cut-outs so you can see a lot of steam buildup on the bumpers when it is cold outside.

Here's a new video I made of a cold start and some engine revving. It actually backfired each time I let off the throttle, but the microphone on the Canon 570 couldn't pick up the low frequency sounds:
