Hate the Front License Plate Law!

I still don't understand why some states are so uptight about this rule. I recently got a ticket for $60 for not having a front tag on my CS. Though I shouldn't be so upset because I have gotten pulled over twice before this incident and gotten off on both, I just still don't understand why it is a requirement and how much more of a benefit it is to officers.

Do you all have your front plates on if you live in a state that requires it??

I stick mine in my windsheild. My bumper was never drilled for the plate so I'm not going to ruin a perfectly good bumper

yep and yep. Last time I got pulled over the police man told me I needed to mount it on the outter most part of the bumper. I had it tucked into the bumper. You could still see it really well, he was nice enough not to ticket me for it. I think its pretty stupid also. Many states get away just using the rear plate with out any problems that I know of.

Mine is not a DD and thus far have gambled with not installing mine. So far, so good... but I may look for one of the aftermarket mounting options down the road as I refuse to drill holes in my bumper.

My front bumper was never drilled for plates either. I was told you can get a front plate holder that doesn't drill into the bumper though, does anyone know where to find one of those? They're required here in Texas as well so I'd like to try and keep things nice and legal, I just hate the idea of drilling into my bumper if I don't have to.

When I used to live in Maryland I was notorious for refusing to put a tag on the front of my car.....and although being hassled a few times I never got a ticket after I bored them with the reason....SVO: parts are obsolete and I'm having a hell of a time finding the bracket for the car Others: The car was wrecked and repaired and the tag bracket has been on backorder from the dealer.

I constantly ran without a front tag on just about every vehicle I owned.

Now though....Alabama is a front tag free state

Sometimes you gotta pay to play....either come up with an excuse that works, put a tag on it or pay the fines....

This officer who pulled me over was slick and the first thing he asked was, "How long have you had this vehicle?" I didn't give much thought to the question at first, but he used that as a base to ensure my excuses wouldn't work after I had told him I have had the car for almost a year. I even tried using the fact that my brother is also an officer, but he didn't care.

I'm just gonna order a mount that does not require any drilling so I won't have to deal with this BS again.

The only time I've been pulled over for no front plate mounted, is when I had mine in the windshield. The Sheriffs deputy said it could be a potential hazard in a collision if it came flying back at me or a passenger. Then we talked about my car (not a Mustang) that was completely gutted with only a race bucket and the racing I do. He pulled me over in my own driveway, and my friend who had been helping me work on my car was just sitting in my garage laughing at me.

In the past I've bent the top over and mounted it under a bumper on one car (technically illegal) and on another car had it on a hinge to fold under at sped (also illegal in Ohio), now though, I just don't bother with them on some of my cars. The Bullitt has been an Ohio car for the last 5-6 years, and neither I nor the previous owner ever mounted the front plate. I specifically told the dealer when I picked up my '08 Mustang not to mount a front plate or bracket, and it would be a deal killer if they did, and it has never had a front plate. I also removed the front bracket from my Miata when I bought it a few years ago. I have been running a front plate on the Subaru and Mini since they were both drilled by the dealer for plates, and since those two cars see more than any of the others, but I've never been hassled for no front plate, and I'm willing to put up with a ticket or two a year if I have to, to keep my Mustangs free of that ugly plate hanging off the front of the car. It does help that I live in the country and drive mostly at night (I work 3rd shift).

I've had the car for 3 years now come February and have never been pulled over for not having the front plate, windows tinted, or O/R H pipe (When I still had it). Heck come to think of it the only time I've been pulled over in the Stang was for speeding and I got let go with a warning. Hopefully my luck continues.

I got pulled over the first week I tried to run without one. So I went with this stow-n-go. Here's a vid of it at about :13 you can see it.

And I am running it on a GT/CS with FRPP springs. I just take driveways and approaches really easy and at angles.

I've gotten more hassles from my friends in Md. about it than the Po Po in the 18 months I've had the car.

Po Po =0

It's a DD too at 70MPD
