I was talking with my uncle today about Mustang security on the '05, because he had a '93 that was stolen and an '87 that was in the middle of being stolen before he caught the guy. I was curious if anyone on the board has had their car stolen/broken into or knows of any '05s that have had that happen to them.

I had a dream (nightmare) about just that a few months back and I posted it here. Man, you should read some of the comments from others on here. Some thought it was funny, others were pretty mad. I will reserect it.

I recall reading a story on one of these forums a while back about someone having their Mustang broken into while parked in the parking lot of a shooting range. If I recall correctly the individual indicated that the crooks took the registration out of the vehicle but I don't recall of they stole anything else.

I don't remember many more of the details but it struck a chord with me since the owner was at the range shooting. Personally I'd think any crook with half a mind would be nuts to steal from someone they know to be armed.

Yea, that is the one. No bad dreams since then.
I have not heard of any 05 Mustang being driven away. Broken into yes, lots of them I am sure. I think most new vehicles now a days are pretty difficult to hot wire, but I am not a car thief, so I could be wrong

If you want your Stang to be secure.

You should get a Paging Alarm and ditch the one that ford offers. Paging alarms will cost the same amount. Well you'll pay a little extra for the install of course.
But knowing when someone is lookin through your windows or standing too close...or even some uneducated bum dings you in the parking lot...you'll be alerted on your pager right away.
And the range on some of them is amazing. Mine goes 1/4 mile and that's downtown. Line of site is 1/2 mile.
Best money i've spent on the car. Better then insurance, and cheaper too!!!

ANd don't forget you scan start your car form that distance too.

I had one on my 1999 Stang for over 5 years. With proximetly sensor and all. I caught some kids setting off my alarm a few times and the odd person just admiring my car through the side windows.
But i can't forget the time when an idiot swung open his door in the Walmart parking lot, right into the side of my, then, 1 year old Stang. My pager went off...I ran out and told him off. he denied it all... Unitl i showed him his paint chips on my car and mine on his car. Needles to say he paid to fix the dent and paint.

Without it i would never know who the a-hole was.

Now with some of the new systems you can have GPS tracking... you can even track your car on the web yourself.
That's what i'm probably going to do with my 2006.

Oh yea...and i also have a wireless camera connected inside the casr...so i see everything..

heheeheheh

Screw that, I heard my car alarm go off last week while I was in bed and I was outside with a Tac flashlight and Glock 21 in 14 seconds. darn radar detector fell off the window.

Says they left the keys in it AND it was running! SO, not much hot wiring needed there! Im no car theif either, but seems like technology would at least keep making it harder to steal cars -- Im sure it will never become obsolete, crooks can occasionaly be smart (or else they wouldnt remain crooks)

Man, that brings back memories! I've always had a soft spot in my head for old Chrysler products. Heck, if they'd have brought out the Charger in a 2-door, I might have waited for that!!!

Yup good point enough that it is getting so bad that in Canada by at least 2007 I think all new vehicles have to have an imobilizer built in , I think they mean with out the right key from the owner that it aint going anywhere and if it does ? can you account for your keys, I beleve the Gov't want people to be more responsible for their cars etc as the damages and death related to a stolen vehicles , so they went to the Auto industrie. I'll post the article if I find it again .

I can image myself doing the same thing, only a little slower with my 12 gauge

My boss had his Lexus stolen when he left it running with the keys in it outside a hotel in downtown Baltimore while he went inside.

He honestly thought nobody would bother it.
