has anyone shorter tires to change gear ratio

I'm guessing a smaller wheel wouldn't look better and it probably a better idea to just change the gears. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this or has tried it? I have stock 17 inch rims on an 07 gt vert with 3.31's. I think those tires are 27.2 inches tall. A 25 inch tire would put me at 3.62 effective gear ratio.

Yep, people do that all the time (play with tire sizes to tweak effective overall/final drive ratios)

But in your case, going to shorter tires (smaller aspect ratio) will make the fender gap look huge, even huger than it already is. So think about that before you do it.

If you want to look at the available tire sizes and overall diameter, check out Tire Rack -- look up a potential tire (make/model) then look at the "specs" list; it shows the available sizes and their overall diamter.

I used tire size to effectively lower my gear ratio. I knew I was going with a big tire so I went with 4.10 gears so that my effective gear ratio compared to stock is like 3.83 or something like that. I was looking to run 3.90 gear set in there so this worked out nicely.
