I may be insane, but if I can't get the price I am seeking here at my dealer, I am thinking about using one on Long Island- Mccarville Ford. I live in Bammy, what would the logistics be?

You do gotta admit, it would be one heckova ride home.

Treadway Ford in Mobile are selling them at $500 over invoice, I can give you the name and number of the salesman that took my order. He is going to deliver my car to me. Didn't have to haggle for price. One of the best car buying experiences I have had up until this point.

I bought my 03 in Ann Arbor, and then had the fun of driving it 340 miles back home!
If you are only saving $500 to $1,000, I would think about whether it makes sense to buy a plane ticket and then have to spend a LONG day driving 1100 miles. But if you save enough, it could be worth it.

I saved $5,000 by going out of town, they are charging $3k over MSRP at the dealers nearby.

Ok, For the record- I don't fly. EVER. I prefer being in control of my own destiny. Reason #2 my car has 140+k miles on it. I would rent a car and drive up if I went that route.

My dealer now will not give me my xplan until Spring when they have inventory. I got some people to poke with sticks, and that may change.

That dealer will give me it now if I order from the factory.

Do they know not to charge me NY taxes? And I assume I would just stick my current tag on and be done(here tag goes with owner)

That made me think, when you buy a car out of state, which sales tax do you pay, the tax of the seller or the tax of the buyer?

I think you'll pay the taxes where it is registered.

I live in PA and bought my car at Brandon Ford in Tampa. I negotiated EVRYTHING over the phone, and through email. I did not want any surprises when I got there. Also, I had a round trip ticket just in case it didn't work out. It was only $20 more anyway (don't ask me why, ask the airlines). Everything went smooth, and I did my 1167 mile journey through some pretty heavy downpours in 24 hours and 8 min.

Definitely a fun experience, and I'd do it again in a hoofbeat.

We sell all over the country. We are in upstate NY and have done business in New Mex, Florida, Arizona and California all within the last 2 months. Most folks have flown in and drove home (even the guy from CA), but a few have just had them shipped home. I had a Mustang GT picked up by a trucker for a customer in Jacksonville Fl last night.

If you're looking at just the money, it may not make sense between the airfare, gas, hotel and other expenses. If you take into account the "fun factor", the adventure, the chance to see other parts of the country and doing business with someone you like and trust, then it might be worth it.

Karpro (Paul),

What would it cost me to order through you, and have the car shipped to Bremerhaven, Germany, thru whatever port you think is best? In these months, I could fly round trip to the States for about $350 bucks, so that is the cap for inland transportation. I admit the adventure would be half the fun.

I'm working for the Army over here and would pick up the car there at the port.

I'm going to be driving over 1400 miles to get my car back to colorado. Getting a plane ticket home for the holidays and then driving it back. The regional manager and dealer both guaranteed that my GT would be in by christmas and if for some reason it doesn't get delivered by that time they will pay to ship it out to colorado. Sweet deal for me, but i would much rather have it come in and me get to drive it out.
