It's 143 on the current GT and electronically governed at 155 on Cobras, so my guess is 145.

The current marks are electronically limited at 152 I'm fairly sure. Somewhere between 145 and 152 is a fair guess.

Thats a really good point. They could electronically limit to around 140 or so. I think its a safe bet that the needle will get to 140 (at least on manuals). Auto's, there's no guarentees. For instance, the Mach auto's are limited at 127 (even though the speedo hits 150).

I say that it will be limited to 132 MPH. This is what Lincoln LS's are now limited to. The 2000 - 2001 LS's were limited @ 143 MPH, was dropped to 132 for 2002 model year.

The speedometer actually goes to 145 mph. The numbers stop at 140, but there is another dash after to 140's dash. B)

Ok, since my remark of 140 is apparently being cast in the wrong light... Yes, most cars only can achieve 3/4 of what it says on the speedo (some can surpass it also...which I don't know from experience ) And I'm sure a friendly officer will be glad to tell ya how fast you're going B)

Top speed is usually governed by powertrain bending and tire speed rating. Since the 05 car has a 2 piece driveshaft, it will have higher powertrain bending threshold than SN95 GT. Therefore, the top speed will be electronically limited to tire speed rating. Each manufacturer uses their own guidelines on how much below the top speed of the tire they limit the vehicle too. Ford may be a bit more conservative after Firestone incident on Explorers. I would venture to guess 143-145mph range.
