GT500 Conversion

I had some guys asking me questions about the GT500 conversion and they wanted to see some pictures so here they are

I did a complete driveline swap from motor to trans all the way back. Suspension was upgraded, brakes were already done. The exhausts are Corsa and they were also already on the car.

I already had the Saleen aluminum hood and Ford GT wheels.

I also swapped out the seats and gauge pod for the GT500 parts. A GT500 computer and harness were used so the car is electronically the same as a GT500.

I recently painted my coil covers as well. A friend of mine was killed last year and he had a blue GT500 so I painted my covers in honor of him.

He also worked with me on all of the modifications.

I'm debating on the steering wheel. I like the GT500 wheel, but the spokes on my GT wheel match the dash better.... decisions decisions.... well anyway if you guys have any questions let me know.

Great job! Instead of doing the GT500 body kit and leaving everything else stock you did the reverse and left the GT mostly stock on the outside and changed all the performance parts. Nice looking exterior mods too. -

Thanks man I appreciate it

This was definitely a work-in-progress.

I started out with a Saleen blower on the stock engine. And had that for a long while. I got a deal on the GT500 engine that I just couldn't pass up so I went for it.

With the GT exterior, I surprise a lot of folks on the street hehe. Although with all the other mods, stripe, body kit, etc. I think mostly they want to see if I have the "go" to back up the "show."

Which I do

That is awesome. Nice sleeper!! Great color and stripe combo also!

I would love to see someone shell a GT500 with a V6. Talk about a real sleeper.

Thanks man

Actually someone did that a few years ago with a white V6. I met the guy who bought that car... he was from Norway or somewhere like that.

Car was a TOTAL sleeper... looked like a V6 but man did it MOVE!

I tried to find the thread for it, but I think it's been deleted... it was over on modular fords I believe.

What a BEAUTIFUL car. Very well done ! the engine bay looks better then OEM. I love the black cam covers with the blue coil covers. Just beautiful.
Stripes look great with the Ford GT wheels which in turn look great with the color of your car. Very Nice !!!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome Car! Love how you even got the seats in there too. Was the seat swap plug and play ? I have the side airbags on my car too and I've been looking for Gt500 or Bullitt seats w/airbags , but wasnt sure if the airbags from different model years would be an issue.

Thanks so much guys

The seats were not plug and play unfortunately.

I suspect if my car was a 2007 it would have been, but since it was a 2006, the airbag module was different.

It was fine for the drivers seat, but the passenger seat hooks into the abs and even though it plugged right in, it wouldn't work.

So what I did was basically take my old cloth seats and remove the upholstery from the passenger side and add the GT500 upholstery to my cloth seats.... just swapped covers and pads basically.

I had thought about swapping the boxes (ABS) on the bottom of the seats, but it was easier just to remove the foam and covers.

I still have both my cloth seats sitting in my "man room" my wife thinks it's funny, but I still use them... sit in them.. they're very comfortable

Incredible modification. I know there are a lot of great things about it, but the blue painted covers are the best part. Very tastefully done and for a very honorable reason. That just makes the car, good on you for doing that.

one thing is missing....GT500 aluminum pedals. regardless this is a nice sleeper. i was gonna guess that'd be a S/C'd 4.6 but then i saw the huuuuge S/C'd DOHC 5.4 under the hood.

You shouldn't drive around in a fake GT500 like that. Shame on you.

You should let ME drive around in a fake GT500 like that!

Ahhh pedals... didn't think of that man, and the list grows

Brian, you'll likely have an easier time doing the conversion if you decide to do it on your car.

We ran into all kinds of little problems because my car was a 2006 and not a 2007.

Ford changed little things here and there so it made it more difficult than it would have been with an '07

Very nicely done car looks great. I love the way the skirts and rear valance continue the color from the front spoiler. I also like those GT wheels. Changing the hardware is one thing changing the whole electrical system well that takes some real cajones.

Thanks man

Yeah the hardware was DEFINITELY the easy part compared to the electrical.

Of course if I did it again it would go much faster... but that first time is a *****.
