GT Wheels: Standard or Premium?
#1
I was shocked to see that the cragar style bullitt rims which are the 17" painted cast aluminums are actually the stock standard rim, and the 17" bright machine cast aluminum are the optional premium wheel.
I like the bullitt rims way better, what do you guys think?
Standard 17" painted cast aluminum bullitt rims:

I think the color of the car plays a huge part in determining which wheel looks better. Your pictures illustrate perfectly the fact that the Mineral Grey looks very good with the standard wheels. I think the red colors look great with the optional wheels.

good point.
when i kept seeing the pictures of the machined wheels on the website and elsewhere, i was wondering why they didn't show the "better wheels", ie the bullitts.........i just assumed they were the upgrade.
i don't care for the machined wheel, just my personal opinion. i agree the bullitts probably look crappy on certain colors and vice versa...in the end its all preference.

I'm with ya on the bullits, at first I liked the concept rims, but to me the bullits are a statement of american muscle. Now put some spinners on those bullits....Yeah Baby!

Neither one is a work of automotive art, but at least the optional machined aluminum wheels move the ball forward a bit whereas the Bullitts have been so overused anymore that they're pretty passe now. I do like the yet-to-be-released blade wheels the best.

I agree that the color plays a part in which wheel looks better. But for me, 98% of the time, I like the machined wheels better. I think they should have saved the Bullit wheels for the 2005's. I think I'd like them a lot more if I hadn't already been seeing them for the last 2-3 years. Just my opinion though.

I agree that it depends on which color the car is. B) I ordered Satin Silver, and I think it need the optional machined rims to brighten things up. The bullitts, even though I like them, just didn't do it for me on Silver....

It depends on your view. I think that people who view the '05 as a 'new' mustang prefer the upgrades, while people who like the '05 as a 'retro' tend to prefer the standards. Me, I've always wanted an old muscle car, I went with the bullitts!

In the beginning I thought the Bullitts were the way to go because I was so used to seeing them on a Mustang, although I do prefer the old style with badge in center better.
As time pasted and I got the chance to see in person. The Bright Machined Aluminum has really grown on me and it is refreshing to see something new. Also, remember they are the concept wheels. Just give it some time. The car is beautiful with either wheel one chooses.

I prefer the Bullits. I haven't paid much attention to the later Mustangs so they don't seem over-used to me. If the Fanblades had been an option, I would have been tempted. The current option wheels just don't do it for me.
