Not sure if this is the right thread. But i own a very plain V-6, nothing too fancy about my '05, it only sticks out cause of my 4.0 emblems. Well, at work. I peek outside and i see a sonic blue 05 gt pull up next to mine. He gets out and starts lookin at it. I go outside to walk to my car. I unlock it, he says " this yours?" im like "yep". He started telling me how nice my car was and that its sharp with the 4.0.Naturally I tell him that his is cooler since his a GT with bullits and every feature. But he still said nice car and we talked for a little and i went back to work. Then a couple hours later. I pull out to go to lunch, and another guy in a legend lime GT pulls up next to me, told me sweet car, and he also liked the 4.0 emblem. Then he did a friendly burnout, and a thumbs up and took off. I was surprised. Its realy cool that the GT guys respect the v-6 guys. They had a much better mustang than I but still complimented it. So i thought id share the story. A lot of respect with the '05 guys . It shows that whether its a 30k GT, or 17k mustang deluxe, were all mustang guys.

Once upon a time in a far distant land........

Actually here's a sadder story.

The very first 05 I saw in person is a Legend Lime/Charcoal leather GT that was outside in the snowy parking lot back in Feb in NH. I've seen the car several times since - driven by a lucky young guy - perhaps 20 who loved to crank up his Shaker 1000 near the mall entrance!

I'm quite sure I saw the same car again over the weekend - in the nearby Ford used car dealer's reconditioning bay. My sales buddy there told me he had just taken it on trade from the poor guy who couldnt make the payments and especially the insurance payments. The car now has 14K miles on it so he's been driving everywhere! Poor guy is now riding around in an old Dodge Neon or something. The GT was sold within an hour of being taken in - to a wholesaler in NJ.

I feel bad for the guy.

I'm a GT owner but I was origionally going to get a V6. I was able to come up with the money for a GT at the last minute. So naturally, I always give V6 owners a thumbs up. After all, V6 or GT, they are both stangs.

Where did you get the 4.0 emblems?

Well then get one so you stop hearing people say it. That way you won't be so upset

I have nothing against the V6's, after all, they are mustangs.....

Thats where you are wrong. All 05's are cool. At least i haven't seen one that isn't. Both models have options or components that I don't care for, but that doesn't make either model less nice. They are the same exact car for the most part.

I actually could have afforded a modestly equipped GT coupe or a loaded V6 convertible and chose the latter. I don't have a single regret, nor have I been "dissed' by the GT guys. It's a Mustang, pure and simple.

In any other current sports coupe the decent horsepower rating of the V6 would be featured front and center in the ads. It's just tough having a big brother who is an over achiever

I should have ordered a V6. I spent significantly more money for an engine sound. I'll never race it, and the V6 is plenty for any normal or even emergency street driving. When I see a V6, I think 'there goes someone with more sense than I have!'

Any Mustang gets a salute and wave from me. Ford folks are good people, so if they act like a snob in return, they probably stole it. Call it in as a suspicious vehicle, and see if the locals will pay him/her a visit. :P

Thats something i've been feeling with the 05's too. I'll be truthful; the 04-below models was like GT>V6 all the time, and no one really cared about the V6. Now, every time I see a 4.0, I stop, chat with the guy, and always give them a thumbs up or a nod when driving by. They are essentially both stallions at heart .

I'm proud of my V6. For whatever reason (financial in my case) the guys driving the 4.0L's are still sporting the Mustang. Just because I don't crank out the same number horses doesn't make me any less of a Mustang enthusiast.

Besides, our faux gas cap looks better :P

I'll be looking for your wave.

Its few and far between that I get a wave back when I wave at one.

I like stories too, and this is a nice one. Great thread. It's nice to see our sixers getting props from GT owners.

Tony (sixtysix) drove 2 1/2 hours (its really a 4 hour trip, but he has a GT) to hang out with me and my lil ol V6.

I was going to add that not all GT owners are egotistical phallic symbols....

Looks like Janet took care of that already
