Gt feels like it's not running at high enough rpms

I feel like my 06 gt is losing power and not running at as high of rpms that it was....I feel like it's taking longer to change gears and I'm getting to higher speeds before I have to change gears and It is not as loud as it was before... what's going on here,? Does anyone know? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I'd start by making sure all of the maintenance things are up to date -- clean or replace the air filter, fuel filter, clean the MAF sensor, clean the throttle body, maybe consider a "cleaner" like seafoam

how many miles are on it, and have the spark plugs been changed?

No none of that's been changed yet or cleaned...I bought the car and just started driving it and it had been sitting for awhile...I mean it still runs good but I feel like a little power has gone away and it seems like it ain't as loud as it was.. maybe I'm just getting use to the sound... but yes I need to change all that and clean some things to...... maybe that's why it's feeling sluggish and not as fast...

All I've done to the car is put new gears in the rear end and changed the oil and transmission fluid and had a break fluid exchange done and just made sure other fluid was good.... and ever since I had the break fluid exchange done I've lost some pressure in my clutch peddle... it's not as hard to push down as it was before and when I have my clutch pushed in and i rev the motor i hear something spinning somewhere in the lower dash area or somewhere.. not sure but something is spinning

it sounds like the brakes might need to be bled

and you might just be getting used to the power of the car and the sound so it doesn't "feel" as fast as it did when you first got it

With 153K miles it is definitely due for new spark plugs, if that has not already been done. It has the "break away sparkplugs" so be sure to read up on how to do that job without breaking them, on here before you do it. If you have a shop do it, make sure they are familiar with this issue and how to handle it.

Yeah that's what I was thinking cause I also have a 02 mustang 3.8l v6 and I was use to driving it and when I got the gt and started driving I could feel a big diff in power but now I think I'm getting use to it... and I've heard something about the break away spark plugs but not sure what that is but I'll look it up... the car had set for a year or so when I got it so I'm pretty sure the plugs and wires need changed and maybe the coils? I just got the car a few months ago... it has bbk shorty headers on it and pypes bomb axle back exhaust with muffler delete and a jlt cai with bama tune and I have the 93 octane race tune on it... it came with the bama hand held tuner

ALL THINGS S197.

Lil' post I made to 'splain the things you need to know about your car, and some things that you might need to address/work on. Such as... The Method... or the Battery Thing... or yes, even the Spark Plug Thing, it's in there (8th paragraph) as well as the clutch situation which I believe is what's got you worried (9th paragraph). And 10th paragraph regards the master cylinder for the clutch, which kinda sounds like maybe you need to address too.

There's links to... The Method... as well as the spark plug and battery things to look at on how to deal with them. The rest is fairly simple-ish stuff, so no links. Plenty of youtubes or the manual, which can be found here or here. I use the one at iihs.net, but the other's here and just as handy and... interesting to peruse, let's say (namely some of the pages are outta order because numbers are fun like that, and some of the pages are just... yeah Either really malformed or outright missing (lookin' at you diagnostics in the Ns or such). But grand majority good useful stuff.)

Overall, this car sounds very much like it needs a go-through. Brakes inspected/redone, all fluids swapped out (flushed...? Not at this stage, honestly.) New spark plugs. I would leave the coil packs alone if the car's otherwise happy after all that. Motorcraft COPs are very very good, there's really not much call for anything else on these cars, even with tunes and such. Don't be swayed. As far as the two piece sparks... eh. I've heard plenty of tales where trying one pieces instead haven't yielded good results, and plenty that have been very happy. IDK. I just extracted the old ones the first time, only had one break, extracted that with the tool, and then went back in with the nickle anti-seize, and since have swapped again, and it was butter to pull them out and redo 'em. I'd just stick with what's called for, myself, because of the NAS on the shroud workin' so good. Car's happy, I'm happy.

Hope some of that helps, good luck!

/Oh, and if you have a specific question, post a topic on that alone. Easier to keep track of, and maybe helps the next person what has the issue and is searching.

Bought from a dealer or 3rd party?

Along with everyone else, I'd take a look at the air filter, MAF, TB, and plugs to start with. MAF is easy to clean, just get the MAF cleaner from Advance/Autozone/Napa. TB is pretty easy too, just be careful, some people have messed up theirs in the process. Make sure you use a teflon safe TB cleaner and dont let the cleaner get in the gears/electronics on the side.

150k with the original plugs? Odds are not great...Might want to get the extraction tool ahead of time or have another car to drive in the meantime

Houtex, I've been using E3 one piece plugs for 7 years, never had a problem with them. I originally changed motorcraft plugs with more motorcraft every 40k instead of the 100k interval, and on my 2nd set of plugs (also using the NAS) I had one or two really stick in there, almost acted like they were going to snap. I had a really rich tune at the time which I think contributed. It was enough to make me nearly crap my pants and I went out and bought the E3 plugs instead.

Just out of curiosity, which one-piece spark plugs in particular have you heard plenty of tales where trying them didn't yield very good results, Tex? Other than for the Champion one-piece plugs, I don't recall coming across any negative tales regarding the Brisk Racing one-piece nor Accel one-piece design spark plugs. At any rate, I am seriously considering making the switch from the dreaded 2-piece design Autolite HT0 plugs to either Accel or Brisk Racing one-piece design out of fear of the 2-piece design Autolite HT0 plugs breaking inside the heads. Therefore, if by any chance you came across any negative tales regarding the Brisk Racing and Accel one-piece design spark plugs? I'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't mind sharing some of those tales before deciding upon pulling the trigger to purchase them

Ah OK, I figured if it was a dealer that they probably would have changed the air filter. But 3rd party, definitely safe to check/replace it.
