GT/ California Special
According to a radio interview with Mr. Thai-Thang, there will be a California Special. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=21599
How do you feel about a new Califonia Special?
I, for one, like the idea.

i think its a cool idea, need a little variation to keep things intrested. i would like to see a new SE, kinda like the bullitt but not. the bullitt was a new name but a retro idea. as much as id love to see a new mach1 or boss, something new for the mustang would be really cool i thgink
California Special doesn't mean much to me -- and I am from CA!
Now, if the specs were different, I would be interested. But, if it is just a new grill and some slight body mods, well then, I really don't care (unless it has GTR/concept style tail lights, that would get my interest).
Personally, I would rather they put an all aluminum 5.4 and call it a Boss 330 or something with a stronger emotion pull (to me at least).
That being said, has it been confirmed it will be a V8? With all the CAFE BS, might they elect to put the V6 in there and come out with a V8 SE later? It is an interesting notion, though I doubt they would mess with the V6 and risk bumping into GT pricing.

I live in California, so my pov may be distorted... but I think a California Special is less for people in Cali as it as an attempt to capture a California style. That's what it was originally. The trick is, I don't know if you can do that anymore because there isn't a single, clear "California" style right now. There are different styles in pockets around the state.
If you said they were going to do a West Coast Special (bring on the DUBs and the super metallic paint), or an OC Special (Mustang M3 from Munich), then I would have a clearer idea what it was going to look like. I wouldn't buy them, but I could visualize them.
But, since we are voting, I would go radical. V6 Hybrid. The power of a V8 but less gas (since we pay $3 per gallon here). Plus you can put that Hybrid logo on there - which all Californians go ga-ga over.

We need a V6 SE, but I tend to agree the C/S shouldn't be it.
I think a GT C/S would be a great idea, if they could make it a "boulevarde cruiser", laid back, sporty, convertible great for cruisin' and hitting the beaches and general chillin' out. That was the idea with the original, wasn't it?
