Yah they call it 'beach traffic' they hand them out like candy and they know most are out of state so they will probably pay it off and not go to court.

No way i'm going to court (far away) but what if I wrote the judge a letter? I am just out of the military...I was thinking I could use that to my advantage. Any ideas?

Look buddy I served my time....2 long combat tours with the 82nd Airborne Division. So don't lecture me on integrity and ethics....If I want to use my military service to my advantage then I will. That's my right as a veteran, if you want to keep your service quiet then that's your decision.

I don't believe you.

Anyway I would prefer if you put that statement back up so everyone can see what you said to me....

Well this guy was passing judgement to me and talking about his "brothers in arms" while he's sitting pretty at an Air Force Base in Candy California. Flyboys

Wow!!! How did this come about. He is serving in the airforce at Beale AFB. You make it seem like you're better than him because you served in "2 long combat tours". He made his choice as to where to enlist, and so did you. Handle this privately in PM's or just disregard each other.

The point of this thread for you explain about being pulled over by an 05! Let's focus on that instead of making us read your B.S.

I respect everything our military does for us, whether you fought on the ground in Iraq, or you were "sitting pretty" at an AFB!

Let's stay on topic here.

That was my point. That this is a car forum. I retracted my statement. And I will retract my reply. However, if you think that all we "fly boys" do is sit at a base in the states, well, then I guess that just shows exactly how shallow you are. I don't know if you noticed how many of us "fly boys" are running convoy escort in Iraq (I know its hard to see the stripes under the vests and gear). If you need to be shown, http://www.dod.mil/news/Feb2005/n020...005020801.html. But, I digress. This is a car forum, and I am done wasting my time on this tangent. Good day.

This guy tried to tell me i'm a piece of krap because I suggested using my military service to my advantage. Then he even went so far as to say that I am disrespecting all of those who have been killed. He was making himself feel good by coming here and putting me down for something so petty. Complete troll....runs in the crowd...throws a punch and runs back. Weak. BTW I have nothing against the AirForce...every time we needed to jump..they gave us a lift. Anyway it's done now...but don't tell me i'm a jerk for defending myself...this guy was way out of line. He knows it too that's really why he deleted his posts.

If he seems amenable, ask him what performance mods (if any) are on his car. Do they run manual or auto trannies, etc.? Its all part of showing him respect and therefore he might show you some leniency. Just my .02

Ask em to race, he rips it up the ticket if you win. Takes you to jail for drag racing if you lose!

I disagree. I doubt that all of the "Johns" who get nailed by cops in prostitute garb were asked 25 times if they wanted a date. All it takes is once.

As for the racing, I also doubt the officer only revs his engine once. It usually takes several blips of the throttle to get the message across. Besides, if the cop initiates the street race, he is coercing you to do something that you normally wouldn't have at that time and place. Illegal. It's hard to respect law enforcement officers who blatently ignore the laws they're tasked to enforce.

These cops need to move to cities with real crime to give them something productive to do.
It doesnt matter if he revs a billion times he is not forcing you to race by revving at you. Just ignore it and no problems. Ricers used to rev at my camaro all the time never once did it mean i HAD to race.

Is it better to continue to fight in the improper place, or just walk away? I have seen too many times in the forums where good subjects get hijacked by tangents. Getting pulled over by an 05 is a good subject to go along with a good story. After realizing that I had potentially derailed the thread, I removed the posts and let it go. But, if you wish to continue with this diatribe, let us do it over PM's. For the record (I did not stoop to using crude names to describe you) I may have contempt for your opinions regarding use of military service, but I do not harbor contempt for you as a person or soldier. Since you have counter accused me of being out of line (which I was by stating my opinion publicly in the Stang forum, but not in content or context) and being a "troll", I will, however, restate my opinion. It is my opinion that using your prior or current military service to further your own personal financial or monetary status (or to get out of a ticket) is disrespectful to those individuals that fought (fight) and died (die) in uniform. It is (my opinion) that given your 2 long combat tours, you are entitled to the respect and appreciation of your fellow American citizens. I (my opinion) believe that your service does not entitle you to the expectation of special privileges (other than those authorized by congress) concerning the law. Further more, I have never and will never criticize the valiant efforts of the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen currently engaged throughout the world. I, will, however, criticize the actions of any service member whose peacetime actions reflect poorly on the service as a whole. I do realize that you are no longer an active soldier, but the perception of representation remains. Now, if you are through, I would prefer to move on.

For what it's worth, I got pulled over 2 years ago for not making a complete stop at a stop light. He asked all of us for our IDs. My buddy in the back handed him his military ID, also from Beale AFB, and the cop laughed in his face. He said "Don't try to pull rank on me kid! I don't care if you are military! Next time someone asks you for ID, you give them your Driver's License or State ID card!"

I only bring this up, because if this cop had pulled you over...you obviously would not have benifited (is that right) from your military background.

As far as being pulled over by an 05, I think it's kinda cool. I myself never fight tickets, or even try to reason with the officer. It works out that way. I ended up getting a 3 night stay in jail turned into a simple overnight because I was totally honest. That, my friend, is the best thing you could do!

Anyone else get pulled over by an 05??????

A) Any cop that says he doesn't care if you're military is a bum. Granted the only thing you should ever hand over is a driver's license only bring up your service if it's somehow relevant to the conversation. ie. he asks what you do. Otherwise keep your mouth shut.

B) Tickets are handed to make money. Nothing to do with safety....if they gave a rats hiney about safety they would be pulling over old people and women on cellphones. In other words if you don't fight a ticket you're an idiot.

C) I have been pulled over 5 times in this car. I have been let off 3 of those times with a warning purely because of my military service.

Anyone that says not to use your service to your advantage is a moron. The Army even provides you a packet of advantages and benefits when you're tour is over. They encourage it. I'm sorry for those who didn't make it back...but I did.
