They don't officailly start taking pre-orders till Monday May 17th, but the sales manager at Mac Haik Ford in Georgetown TX took my pre-pre-order today, I dropped down my first $1000.00 for a Silver GT W/Black interior, and 5 spd tranny. All power options, OMG I can't wait. He said it should be in the second half of sept. He will know more after the officaial pre-order date on the 17th, but he said im guarenteed to have one of the first ones off the truck in Sept.

Uhm, job 1 date is Sept 7th. Don't expect your car for at least 6 weeks after that. Also, I would go get $500 back, every single dealer I've heard of only asks for $500 for a refundable deposit, and also everyone I've talked to didn't want to anything until there was at least an order sheet.

But good to hear you are excited ... just don't get too excited, its going to be a looong wait.

$1000 for an open-ended car, with no price specs, and open-ended options, id ask for my money back, at least until you've actually seen the order guide, excited is good, overanxious is another thing, id wait until May 17th, when you at least see somethin on paper, and have somethin tangible to hand over 500 bucks off to, in a goodwill, refundable deposit, 1000 is a little steep, but the dealer's lovin that chunk of change now

Wow, that salesman must be smiling ear to ear on the commision he just earned! Selling a car that technically doesn't even "exist" in the eyes of the dealers. He doesn't even have to go through with his end of the "first ones off the truck" deal and he still gets the money early. Wow.

i was able to go in and talk to a dealer, well mac haik, here in houston too. same thing...where they fill out that paper to get a pre-preorder. but they didn't ask for any money. and everyone is right, he did say it would only be $500 to get the car here. i don't think it's bad to pay more, if you did it by choice...you gotta do it some time anyhow. lol.

i'm still hoping the 18" wheels and stipes will be available. guess we'll see.

Our inventory manager says the TRUE ordering bank status has changed to a "TBD" date now.

Was it 5/17 previously or just not listed? Is this a possible delay?

Dont know, I guess we will find out on the 17th. The order guides for other 05 models that were scheduled for the 8th came out right on time. It was an email that was sent around the dealer on 'Stang and Escape Hybrid(both have 5.17 as the scheduled day). And the 500 ordering guide that came out on the 8th still does not have any pricing structure listed.

Could it be that they had to revise the 05 ordering guide for last minute changes? Takes a while to reprint etc.

They are just taking thier dear sweet time. Most likely order guide will become available, but no pricing information. If you are curious as to how clearly the price list is(and will be) on a new model, check out this one on an 05 Foci. Pretty easy to figure out. They are only off by a few hundred dollars, the charge in an invoice for local Ford advertising varies by market.

I sent dan the order guides for the 500 and GT supercar(neither has pricing guides yet), they are too big to upload, but Ill try to get them to post it on this thread so you can see what an order guide tells you.

KEV, don't worry about sending me the guides. I found a dealer site that has them all:

2005 FORD ORDER GUIDES (no stang, sorry)

Wow, these things are great. I can't wait to grab the one for the 2005 Stang.

that be them That will answer any question on how a car can be ordered. They are updated durring the year, but Ford DOES kinda-sorta have a plan when they print them. They do not want 75,000 orders placed for a color that does not exist

Heh, funny I dont see PRICING GUIDES THERE......... Go figure.....The pricing guides are kinda taboo to find on a website. Something tells me an annonomous source will email one to a mod here

How much over invoice? Or are you paying top money?

Bullit, he got taken, he ordered a car with an interior that doesnt exist, with a package that hasnt been determined, and put too much down to order a car that technically doesnt exist yet, and the dealer cant quote him a price, since the car doesnt exist in the dealer yet

and im a little surprised kevinb didnt remark on the dealer or the situation, disappointed actually, lol

When I ordered my Bullitt the codes and prices were not set either, but the I agreed on $750 over invoice. There is nothing wrong with jumping the gun as long as all the matters are cleared and included on the sales agreement prior to the signing and giving up one's money. Not being specific can lead to needless complications.

I'm glad someone else is less than optimistic. No way in heck I would have dropped a grand on a car for which nothing has been finalized.
