Good news....Bad news

The dreaded good news, bad news bit.

GOOD NEWS: My car arrived at the dealer today and will be ready for pick-up on Friday.

BAD NEWS: MY car came w/o PTP and charcoal IP applique as ordered.

It's not a deal breaker but I am somewhat disappointed. My original order on 05/01 did not include PTP or charcoal IP (originally ordered satin alum). In mid-July a black on black GT came into local dealer. Stopped and looked at it...Mistake # 1. Liked PTP and charcoal IP. Called dealer on Monday and updated order. Order was accepted by computer so I figured it wasn't too late to change.

Car came in with satin alum IP and no PTP. Dealer said the original order must have already been processed so it was too late to change. However, I'm looking at my order confirmation sheet which has my correct and updated order on it. Not to mention my car wasn't scheduled for a build until late August and wasn't built until 09/11-12. Any dealers out there have similar experience?

Another thing to make you go HMMM, was I also added 3.55 ltd slip in mid-July on a second order update and my car came with the 3.55. Why was it too late for one change and not too late for another. Oh well. I liked my original order to begin with so I'll stick with it. One complaint in the initial ordering process was a lack of info from Ford as to what the PTP with Color Accent Package was. I thought it was 2-tone interior and crossed it off as an option until I saw it on the black GT and realized how it could be ordered as black only.

I wonder if you wanted to reorder if Ford would give it a priority 1 order? You'd have your car in less than 4 weeks I'd bet. Hard to say what the best move is since you have waited so long.

First and foremost, Congrats :b anana:now that the long and agonizing wait is over I bet you are happy to finally have your 'Stang.

It sucks that the order was messed up. It does seem fishy that the 3.55 came through but not the PTP & Charcoal IUP.... It doesn't sound right somewhere, especially if it's on the order.

I'm totally with you on the PTP though. The whole time I thought it had to be two-tone color and so did my dealer, so I crossed it off as well. AFTER my car was built the cars started coming in w/PTP and all black. Arrgh (national talk like a pirate day... ).. anyway, if I would have only known.

The good news is that you'll love your car. It's probably the best built american car that I've seen in sometime, or at least owned. The last 10 or so years have only yielded 1 good truck and the rest, meh, right outta the box. This car is different.

Of course we'll need to see pics

Cochise - congrats on getting your new STANG!!! You are going to have so much fun with it - I'd bet you forget about the order changes before too long. I have the satin dash in my '05 now and it looks nice too - kind of in line with the original 67/68 alum trim packages. Also, you can get most of the PTP pieces from KC - I already have the pedals, console lid and leather e-brake handle ready and waiting!

Enjoy!!

PS I hope your exerience is not the norm - as I changed my GT/CS order after about a week from black with parchament to Vista Blue with Dove! I'm hoping they got that one right.....while the black with parchament is a nice combo - not sure if I'd take it or not as my '05 is black on black and I just can't keep up with extra maintenance anymore.

I made 3 changes at 3 different times to my order (cloth roof, PTP and exhaust tips) and they all came through. However, the bodyside molding on my initial order and on my window sticker didn't show up!

Another thing I changed mid-way but still received were the chrome exhaust tips. Oh well. I know I'll like the satin alum anyway, and I'll order the pedals from CJ Pony Parts. The only thing I won't be able to change is the stitched dash, etc.

And you know what, I'm freakin' stoked just to know it will be all mine in 48 hours.

WAY COOL I sincerely hope that you and I are enjoying our new Mustangs this weekend - and don't let the weather get you down - as there is nothing like picking up that new Stang

I've been waking up early the last two nights thinking about my new Stang? Maybe I need professional help.

One more night and then I'll be sleeping in my garage next to it! Flippin' sweet!

Happy for you mine has been delayed another few days - been sitting at the ramp here in SoCal the past week - when they "get around to it" next week I'll be able to pick it up....sigh....must know how anxious I am to pick it up and wouldn't you know it I was going to be in my dealer's area (150 miles North) this weekend and am busy with work travel the next week.

Flash - off topic but my 14" antenna arrived (no car yet to mount it on) but that thing is short!! Gonna look sweet - but will it really still work as well as stock? Not too critical I guess, since I'l be adding XM but curious if it really does work as well?

Is it the UPR antenna ?? I bought their 14" one and the only differences I notice are:
I can't get the San Diego stations (I'm in L.A)
The FM and AM isn't as good in the basement of the parking garage.

Now in L.A. there isn't a whole lot of stations to begin with but all the normal stations come in perfectly. Man it looks so much better than the telephone pole that came with the car.

It works as well as stock and better than my late 90's model cars. Love it, love it, love it...
