Build date 4/27, dealership I bought it from didn't know about the Global Open, went to another stealership and got it enabled, but it still doesn't work. Kind of PO'd.

Quality control, ha! "Ford, where quality is job one! If we can't fix it, we forget it, problem solved from our end."

Hmm, Maybe this is why Ford won't send me a survey. They I'm gonna rip them a new one for the wonderful way they handled this. Next time when the finance guy isn't looking I'm gonna write "I reserve the right to not make my payments" on the contract and see how they like it.

This isn't right. I bought mine in March, and it didn't work from day one. Since I've been busy working to pay for the car, I haven't had time to get it back up to the dealer for the software, and now even if I did, it looks as though it won't matter. I live in FL, and with a black leather interior you can bet I NEED that feature. I'll take my 255.00 dollar refund from Ford, since the feature doesn't work. I financed through my credit union, otherwise, I'd be holding back on the $$.

Normally, I'm not a lawyer-type person, but this is rediculous. The car came with the feature, the feature was an option that we paid extra to have, and Ford just decided to disable it? Letters, lots of letters.... then lawyers if they don't respond.

I gotta say, if other cars like the Lincoln LS have it and it works since 2000! Why on earth would they just disable it. All we've heard is rumors, no one really knows why they've taken such a cool yet simple feature away.

People say the windows roll down on their own but if that was the case the doors would also unlock!

Same here. Came back from the dealer yesterday, they activated it but ... still doesn't work. My car was built 02/26
Maybe try another dealer. My build date was 2/28 and they were able to re-activate mine.

I took mine in and told them to activate it and I told them how.
Holding the Owners Manual open to the page listing the feature is what
did it. They wanted to charge me Tech time as I didnt buy the car from them. I told them that if they would have had a GT I would have bought it and they guy just nodded his head and said "yaaa, we only have had three GT's so far so I know what you mean". I then pointed to the
paragraph on the feature and off he went.
They freed up a tech, he hooked up the laptop and with the touch screen
he changed it to Active. Took about 2 minutes to walk through the menu.
Now it works no problem. Pretty cool feature.

Mine was built on 1/12/05 and the feature has worked since I took delivery on 2/23/05. Some of the folks on the assembly line must not have gotten the memo to shut it off effective 1/1/05.

And yes, it is a very practical feature to have in the hot, humid weather of the deep South.

Bob, I think you have the latest build date I've seen that's had it reactivated. It will be interesting to keep up with those dates to get an idea of when they started putting in the new junction box.
