Ghay! My E-Brake cable broke and I need to buy a whole assembly.
Top cable broke that connects the actual handle to the 2-cable splitter just underneath the seat. Any ideas on where to find a brake assembly without paying the $215.00 dealer cost? You can't buy just the cable, pfffft..... lame. The Ford parts guy looked it up and comfirmed you can't buy just the cable.
Mine broke two weeks ago today and e mailed him for a price quote and nada! He is just a waste of time in my book.
I just repaired mine for now with some cable and a cable clamp from Home depot.

$215 for an e-brake?
Wow, my dealer only wanted $116, anyway screw the OEM brake lever, buy the Ford racing one for the GT500 with a real leather handle, ~$100 shipped!!!

+1 on the Gt500 handle or you might see if you can find someone who upgraded and get their old one.
On KC, I know he has been super busy which is why he put the hotsheet topic up. I emailed him for a quote on the GT500 Dash top and haven't heard anything yet but I'm not ready to pass judgement. Not trying to make excuses for him I'm just saying I know what it is to be busy when you are running a one man show. His reputation on here and other mustang forums is really good.

Going to have to defend KC on here...Give him a call. I called him and he looked up parts for my Bronco and even located what I needed in the phone conversation and gave me the phone number of the dealer in WY. The only one in the country with the part. He is a busy man. You can't please everyone all the time. So don't base your judgement on the one experience. Try to email him again. I have 100% satisfaction with all my dealings with him. Every vendor on here attempts to satisfy every member, unfortunately they are all guys just like us that can't get everything right all the time.

He is aware and has been working on solving the problem. What else can you ask from the guy, he's working on it.

+1 on getting the Gt500 e-brake. That's what I did
I still have my old one. I don't see why I would go back
and I would rather help a fellow TMS member out so... throw me an offer.

happened to me a month ago.. i parked.. pulled the handbrake up 4 notches and i heard the cable snap under the car.
now get this..
$219 for the standard e-brake.
$109 for the leather wrapped e-brake.
needless to say i got the leather one!

My guess is over time and constant use that the end of the parking brake cable gets worn out since it is always in contact with the metal bracket and eventually gets fraid and snaps.

I had my last car for 13 years(Toyota Celica) and never had it break. Can't think of this happening to any other car or friends cars that I've known for that matter. Did Ford use yet another inferior component in this car
I think it is because every S197 owner yanks on the e-brake handle when parking their Stang. I found my Stang needs at most 2-3 clicks to prevent it from rolling on a steep hill. I see the majority of S197 e-brake handles yanked extremely high. The first thing I was taught when using the e-brake on a HMMWV was never to stretch the cable as it WILL break.

Try getting one brake caliper guide pin for the front!
They only come from Ford as part of a service kit that includes the caliper mounting bracket, two guide pins, two rubber guide pin sleaves and the two caliper retaining boltsfor about $35. Try getting it somewhere else and you can only get it as a kit with all of the above plus the caliper and your talking about $75.
