Gas-filled hood struts
Someone had posted a link to a company that sells gas hood struts to replace the #%&! prop rod used on the '05. I was really stupis and didn't add it to my list or copy down the URL. Has anyone else seen it or remember it?
Thanks

It is also on eBay. Great idea, but so complicated to install. If it were screws it would be mroe user friendly to install - but pop-rivits ? How many of you have a pop-rivit gun ?

The metal in this location is too thin for metal screws. Believe the rule of thumb for tapped screw holes is the length should be at least 2x hole diameter. Ergo rivets...
I bought the ones pictured below from Redline Tuning, they are real cool.

I did it too. It was really easy. I never owned or used a rivit gun. But I bought one at Lowes for $20. Against my judgement, my first rivot was into the hood of my mustang 9no practice test). But all you needed to do was drill 8 holes and put in 8 rivits.

Does it mess up the paint in surrounding areas?

I also bought a tube of touch-up paint. After drilling the hole, I painted the newly exposed metal before putting the rivot in there.
Just wondering if accessing the back portion of the engine compartment would be to much of a pain with these installed. They look cool, but to me, it looks like it would limit access even more then is necessary.
