Fuel guage and read out

i know this has been floating around but no one can awnser my question...i have a 2006 mustang GT and when i left home i had about 60-70 miles till empty...i went to school and when i came back to the car i started it up and it said i had 50 Miles left...so i was like the WTF!!! mind you i had this problem before and all i did was turn the car off then turn it back on and problem solved...well i tryed turning it off then turning it back on and still 50 miles left...well i thought "ok maybe it will fix itself" i got out of school and once i hit public road the guage dropped to Empty and the readout said 0 miles to empty ...now that PMO...so i took it easy cause i did not know if that was going to trick the engine into thinking i had no gas left and went to the dealership (i picked the car up March of this year so i still have warrenty) the guy said he could not find anything wrong with it and should just drive it around for a few days and come back NEXT friday to do a COMPLETE check of the whole car...now my question is does ANYONE have this problem and what could cause this (also we have been haveing VERY hot weather and everytime i open the car it is like opening an oven since i have no tint)
