Driving fast late at night is idiotic. You are moving faster than you can see ahead of you... if that makes sense. You're going too fast and are unable to see potential obstacles ahead that might be hidden behind the darkness. Doughnuts in a parking lot? Are you an infant? Do you pay for your own tires? give me a break...
Did you buy his tires? No? Oh, then I guess you shouldn't comment either.

If he isn't impacting on you, then mind your own business.

So you're buying his tires?

The Feds cannot make the local police enforce the speed limit. I seem to remember the Feds getting p-o'd at Michigan for the average speeds on Rt 75.

If everyone is driving 75 with the speed limit 55, whats a local police officer to do?

By threatening to take away federal highway funds, Uncle Sam has forced Montana to reduce the maximum speed in that state. Uncle Sam using the same tactic is forcing States to lower the level of legal intoxication to .08 bac.

I didn't say anything about Uncle Sam making someone enforce a law. Uncle Sam is merely forcing legislative action so a law can be enforced.

Uhm, ok thanks for the tip. But I live in what we call a metropolitan area. It's where a bunch of big cities are clustered together and it is never dark here. We have street lamps, stadiums, and just your basic city glow at night. And guess what? I'm not stupid, I can see how you would infer that by simply reading my post about how ultra cautious I am and how I'm actually complaining because there is no safe outlet for people to get their kicks safely and legaly.

"Doughnuts in a parking lot? Are you an infant?"
I thought people bought 300 hp cars for thrills not for the 25mph comute on the I-5. Maybe you bought one for a different reason. Certainly my car is beautiful but I didn't buy it just to sit and look at it, or brag about how fast it could go hypothetically. I can proudly admit that doughnuts are fun, tires squeeling, smoke, motor growling, thats really good stuff and yes I love it. If that makes me infantile than so be it.

"Do you pay for your own tires?"
Yes I do, and since I live far below my means and have no vices other than the occaisional Ben and Jerrys new york super fudge chunk ice cream, I can afford to replace rubber as needed. If it makes me happy why not?

"give me a break..."
From the looks of it, you need one. maybe go try a doughnut is some desolate parking lot, it always makes me feel better.

I just got to Germany and folks here drive safely at speeds well over 100 mph on the autobahns, day and night. Then again, the autobahns are well maintained and have gentle curves for the most part. Point is people take driving seriously over here, left lane for passing only etc. and when there's no posted speed limit its up to each driver to know his own and his vehicle's capabilities. Heck, I was doing 100 mph in a minivan...ok a Mercedes minivan.

Anyway, I would love to have Mustang GT over here. They have a Sonic Blue V6 at the local PX.

It's going to be tough driving in the Washington/Baltimore area when I get back.

I am SO looking forward to a road trip to northern California in may, where atleast I will be able to take it on some less congested roads and maybe sneak in a little spirited driving on some coastal roads.
I'm gonna be in Sacramento May 6-13th. Should I look out for a blue flash with a deep V8 roar?

Coastal roads may be nice to test out the suspension, but if you're interested in getting up to speed unhindered, there are tons of roads in the valley that offer clear and safe stretches of asphalt!

I feel your pain; I have only experienced the new 'Stang's awesome power four times so far... on four separate test drives!

The more I hear from Grantsdale, the more I seem to have in common with him...

Now that's a SCARY thought!
I know what you mean!

Nynvolt, same problem in SW FL, I just took a road trip to OH, had the best time. Chased a 'Vette for about an hour in the Virginia mountains. It was 2:30am, desolate, 120mph around mountain curves and up/down hills wasn't the smartest thing... But it sure was FUN!

In VA? You are brave. The cops there don't take kindly to speeders.

VA - WV, like I said, there was NO ONE out for miles. I "let" the 'Vette stay ahead a few hundred yards, I was watching for his brake lights... or worse.
