Unhappy

So frustrating  I went to the dealership I bought my 05GT from and tried to get on a list for the Shelby. I offered a $2,000 deposit, would sign a contract etc. and all I got was the salesman putting my name in the middle of a steno notebook and he didn't even note on what I wanted  He said he would let me know as they are first come first serve. I have read where some people have been able to put down a deposit and sign a contract for one of these upcoming awesome rides! Any input? How about the Ford employees here. Suggestions? Private PMs are fine

It's WAAAAY to early for putting deposits down IMHO. Unfortunately it may to TOO late already to get one of the first ones.I am on a list with one of "TMS's" dealers but that was month's ago.

It is frustrating as most dealers may get one or two of these cars.

We are a little larger than most and I do not think we will get any more than 5 at the most and I already have 5 deposits from customers. If we do not get that many my customers know that I will get them from other dealers at a premium but they are willing to do that. I know it's going to be a hot car once everything is officially announced. If I were you, I would try the other dealers on this site first and if no luck try some really small dealers especially if they won the Ford president's award as they will get prference and maybe tyou can get lucky.

FWIW
Earl Tindoll Ford in Gastonia, NC
My buddy has a $5k deposit and a signed contract for the 2nd 2007 Shelby they receive at MSRP. However....

Pro's
1. Owners daughter is known well by this guy.
2. They are a 4 star, President Award, SVT & Saleen Dealer

Con's
1. I don't trust them have been treated badly several times.
2. Their "on lot" Mustangs and Saleens are HEAVILY marked up (ie $5-6k over sticker....V6's with 22's and body kits listing for $31k!!)
3. No one...per SVT guys at the Myrtle Beach Mustang Meet....NO ONE knows yet how many cars dealers are going to get.

Again FWIW....I ain't putting my money down yet.....besides they won't come in Legend Lime

We are not taking deposits untill we have an order guide and an M.S.R.P. for the Shelby. The order guide will be available before the car is shown, pricing will happen at the time the car is officially shown, most likely at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2006.

Some concerns of long time SVT dealers include how the Power Lease customers voucher will affect their final allocation. A long term SVT dealer may expect four allocations; two allocations for being a long term SVT dealer, one for being a Ford dealer and perhaps one more when they achieve Presidents award status in 05.
Our store has three Power lease customers, if they come in to order and put their deposit down then we may only have one more to sell. The sell and earn program would perhaps allot two to three more cars for our store. So with upt to 7 possible cars and at present count 65 interested customers there is an opportunity for the store to make 7 people owners, and disappoint 58 customers for now..........

So, there is no hurry to commit or make statements on who will order (other than the power-lease customer) what is available as options, when the car will be available to order or when the car will be delivered.

You are a serious buyer as are many of the customers who are included in mine or any other sales persons database however the unknowns prevent commitments from this dealership except to the powerlease customer who agrees to pay the price as determined at that time.

Watch the e-bay forums as time gets close to order. No doubt there will be vouchers out there for bid.

A customer that leased a 2004 Cobra during a specific time (May through June of 2004) was eligible for the Power-lease option. The Cobra was offered on a 30 month lease, the lease rate was 3.9% OAC.
In return the customer by way of a voucher was guaranteed a first build 2007 SVT Cobra. The program is the only communication by Ford on the 2007 SVT Cobra until the announcement of the Shelby earlier this year.
The program describes that the voucher holder will be notified to visit a dealer of their choice prior to all other orders, and order their car. Production of the car in the summer of 2006 with delivery in the fall of 2006 or early 2007.
Sounds pretty familiar to the announced plans by Darryl Hazel for the 07 Shelby!

It was also good for customers who leased Lightnings as there were no Cobra's avaialble. One of my customers is a power lease customer and he is chomping at the bit.

Yahoo! Found a dealership after intensive searching. Number 5 on the list and they anticipate receiving 4 or 5. One of the initial 4 stated they want a white one and no other color. I'm not even sure if they are planning on making white. Dealer said the red ones will be the first out and I asked what my color preference was. I said any color that is the Shelby GT 500 - I don't care what color. Anyhow, not guaranteed one but he said my odds are really good.

The dealer explained it like this - we anticipate an allocation of 5 units. You will have first right of refusal for the car. We are only taking 5 names for what we anticipate to be our allocation. If you decide you do not want the car, you will get your deposit back and the car goes on the lot.

I don't know if it is a joke or not, but they are willing to give me a written contract showing the $1,000 deposit and the car to be sold at MSRP, with no dealer adjustment. He does not know what the MSRP is, and won't until January or February (I don't remember which month he said). That's all I know. I hope, for my sake, that it works out If not, at least I tried because I think the Shelby will be next to impossible to get at anything near MSRP. I would rather have my name on a piece of paper showing a deposit in August 2005 then trying to find one in mid to late 2006.
