front end "clunk?"
I have had my 2008 Mustang GT for about 2 weeks now and I have a question. Is it normal for the front end to clunk as I pull into my driveway? It only happens when I am going over bumps on an angle. Is their something I can check?

i posted a thread on this issue.
it is your sway bar end link bolts. check both the upper and lower bolts and snug them down. it is recommended to use loctite on the threads to help prevent them coming loose in the future.

I would be sure your aftermarket wheels are sized correctly (backspacing/offset/etc) . . . .. I had the same problem on my 01 Bullitt . . . .it turned out the previous owner put 05 wheels on it . . . causing a clunk/rub sound when I was turning in the parking lot.

I am experiencing the same front suspension "clunks", curious, my stang is at 73k miles, im out of warranty, thinking about upgrading the suspension to a coilover setup.
Will this remedy the clunking noise? I've read the TSB for this, and it mentions the following will be replaced (sounds like the coilover set would remedy it, not sure, need confirmation):

Just a little update... I took my car to the dealer today. They say it's the Lower control arms. So they ordered a left and right and they will be in on Tuesday. I'm gonna have the work done next Saturday. Will keep your guys posted on the end result. Maybe this will help someone with the same problem.

Other than tightening the front end suspension components, I remember the strut mounts being the number one clunk creator. Newer designs have been created since the original 2005 part

EDIT: I installed the 4R3Z5025A Cross Member that was standard on the GT500 and was factory added to all mustangs in April 2007. That was another method to prevent clunking.

I chased the clunk for a while. Replaced swaybar, upper control arm,lower control arm and upper strut mount. that was a waste of time, the cluck was still there and still driving me nuts. Finally i decided to replace the suspension with a Pedders sportryder Ezifit suspension https://pedders.com/collections/must...s197-2005-2014 and she is very quiet but stiff as hell.

Different Fix??? What about the first response to this ancient thread? I suppose checking the torque on the sway bar end links is different from tightening the sway bar end link bolt on the top left side. I can see how that is a different fix for some folks. Checking them, and tightening them if they are loose, are two completely different actions for some folks. Some folks...

I know this thread is older than dirt, and people have moved on to newer rides. But my clunk cure was different. New this, new that, proved nothing but spending on needless parts. The last thing was new front stabilizer bushings, they are poly stock bushing from Ford parts giant. They slide on the bar with some resistants but not enough for my liking,end result was CLUNK. I came to the conclusion the bushing were the culprit. I got some HDPE 3/16 thick 2x2. I loosened the swaybar and slid the shim behind the bushing and torqued it down. End result NO MORE CLUNK. Either Ford is calling out the wrong bushing for the bar or it is **** poor engineering. Now I look for bumps to ride over, and enjoy the quiet ride.
I think that if the bushings were made of rubber it may have absorbed some of the sound. But who am I to judge? I'm just a 68yo retired motor head.
