ForScan question.

Does anyone know how to use Forscan?
Trying to get the car door indicator light to turn on but the instructions I followed didn't work.
Would like to know what I am doing wrong.

HI!
I have recently started to use Forscan, but primarily for diagnosis and repairs. Since english is not my mother language, I'm trying to understand your question, are you talking about rogramming light or just testing if it does effectively works?

regards

I wanted to reprogram it so the "car door open" symbol would light up when the doors were open.
And to see if I could get Bambi mode (fog lights with headlights) working.
Someone helped me out on another forum since no one here cared.

Hey, now... it's not that I didn't care, it's that I haven't used Forscan! I've not even heard of it... recognizably anyway... until recently and I'm lookin' into getting it for my situation too. But I haven't yet. Reasons(tm). Otherwise, you bet I'd have chimed in!

I'll keep this in mind though! Yessir. I'll be sure to say "Can't help, but hey, I care! Good luck!" or something in ALL THE THREADS.

/No, I won't, that'd be silly.
//But I do care, honest!

ha, I always wonder, which is worse? (or better depending on how you look at it)
1) to get no replies on a thread like this (because nobody knows)
2) or to get useless replies, like "I care but I can't help you because I don't know . . . "

Don't know what you are doing wrong, but you select your line make the change of the character it tells you to change nothing else, hit write or write-all and then turn key off as it suggests and back on and that should do it. After this you may do the relearn and if still doesn't work, then a master reset. If you have an aftermarket tune on the car I would be careful in making changes and likely your tune may cause not to read many modules.
The only thing I was able to do with my supercharged tuned 2006 GT is turn the DRLs off. With the 2015 Lincoln MKC, I've changed a lot of stuff. Little you can do with Ford's older models before 2010-2012.
You won't be able to do the Bambi mode on such an older vehicle.
Looks like you've already been on the Forscan 2005+ Mustang thread where I learned how turn DRLs off.

Thanks for the help Lenko. Yup been on the Forscan fourm and someone there helped me.
Really sucks about Bambi mode though, but there is a physical work around. Not sure if I want to do it just yet.
Cheers!

I don't know how many people here get into the reprogramming side of things, don't see too many threads about it. I don't suppose you'd be able to link to the thread where you found the answer would you? For the next guy who wants to do something with Forscan but can't find the answer here?

I used to have a 2013 Focus that I reprogrammed and had the option to do bambi mode (never heard that BTW, lol), but it was using a program called Focccus written by some Russian guy. It was an option for foglight operation that was either Disabled, US, or European (bambi mode). Obviously a different program for a global market car though.

I remember someone did the workaround on this forum using relays, can't find the exact thread though. There are a few where they discussed how it's controlled in the SJB, this one below had a pretty in-depth explanation in post #35 (RRRoamer)

Keep in mind, depending on your local regulations, running high beams and aux lights (driving and/or fog) may be illegal. In Virginia where I am, you're only allowed 4 forward-facing lights and high beams count as two-each.

It wasnt a thread. I contacted LaForge, who started this thread: https://www.forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3119
He asked to see my IC built-data and gave me a custom code to input in and it worked!
I dont want to drive around with my highbeams, that would be crazy. Just wanted the option when I do have to turn them on in dark places that I would have more light (with no one around).
I never concidered it would be illegal. Something I need to check.
