I'm being quoted $300-500 over invoice plus a 2% advertising fee by 2 dealers on a 2005 V6. I don't see anyone else mentioning this fee. Is everyone paying this fee or is it negotable?

2% of what? FDAF is typically $240 at MSRP ($75 under A-plan), which would be 2% of $12,000.

I agree---it sounds like a bogus add-on. Don't agree to pay it.

Its common for dealerships to have "dealership" fees for closing the transaction. I've seen advertising fees, paperwork fees, window etching fees, etc etc.

Personally, I don't believe in any of that. I bought my 02 and 05 from the same dealer, and both times, at the time of order, he gave me an write-up of exactly what everything costs, and what the total will be the day I pick up the car. The only extras I had to pay was a tire tax (required by law here) and another enviromental tax.

You can negotiate it off. Just another way they try to skim a few more dollars off of you.

Tell them if they leave thier dealer badge on the car, to consider y'all even.

You pay the fee and they get to put badges on your car? What?

They shouldn't put the badges on or charge you a fee to begin with, how is that even?

most dealers have some lame little fee. Mine was a $172 "Dealer Documentation" fee. They gave me such a good deal on the car ($200 over invoice) that it was still cheaper than everyone else... so i whined about it for a minute and then gave them my deposit. oh well.

At least Ford tells you what you are paying for, I guess they could just take that fee off and increase the invoice price of the car.

When I ordered on X-Plan, the advertising fee was present. I asked the Sales Manager about it and he said every car has it. I just got to see it due to the type of order.

I had heard from somewhere that you can order from Sam's Club... How would that be better than a dealership? (i.e. no mark-ups, stickers, etc?)

I'm almost positive you are correct. My paperwork is at home so I can't confirm this.

If X-Plan is supposed to be fee free then I have something to complain about!

(other than the fact that I don't know when my car will be built)

The dealership may also NOT charge separately for document preparation or other administrative services incidental to the delivery of the vehicle on a Partner Recognition Plan sale. These expenses are considered to be part of the dealer's normal cost of doing business for which the dealership is compensated by the commission paid. Sales under the Mazda S-Plan may be subject to document preparation and/or other administrative services fees. Please review all fees with your Mazda sales consultant and be sure you understand and agree prior to completing a sale.
Your dealer is not adhereing to the Partner Recognition Plan rules. Time to report them to Ford.
