Does buying and installing Ford Racing parts void the warranty? I can understand the aftermarket, but FR parts installed at Ford?

When I bought my 97 GT the dealer said they will warranty any FORD parts that they install. If I buy a part from FORD and install it myself kiss the warranty goodbye.

That would be a compromise. Question is, do they mean they will just warranty the parts you are installing or will the car's actual warranty still be valid as well?

Ford Racing has rims, shifters, springs, TB's and even Borla exhausts.

I'd buy Ford Racing parts and have them install it to keep my warranty, epecially if I get the extended warranty.

Thats cool, hopefully the dealership won't try to screw you too much by charging you big $$ for the install.

The part you buy is warrantied, but any resulting damage wouldn't be. For example, buy FR supercharger, IT breaks IT'S covered. Buy FR supercharger, ventilate block you're SOL.

You better get your FRPP catalog out and read the fine print.

It says that any Competition or Off Road parts have NO warrantly of any kind, including defects. It also says installation of any competition part will void the warranty of your car for any other affected parts.

There is NO explaination of warranty terms for FRPP parts that are street & emission legal. Sounds like they don't want to commit to anything.

I have seen in the past where Dealers will install aftermarket items, not ness. meaning just Ford Racing parts and if they install, they will still warrenty your car. But make dang sure you get it in DETAILED WRITING from them if they do tell you this. Make copies upon copies to CYA. Most dealers now though wont do this and if they do, it would probably only be for a minor FRPP parts. (i.e. springs, control arms, exhaust etc)

Okay, that's a bit disappointing. You'd think Ford would at least back their own stuff if they install it.

Even the detailed writing route seems like trouble. You only have an agreement with that dealer as well. They can just over-rule that piece of writing by refering to Ford's policy. Darn.

Now, practically speaking, I shouldn't have a problem at a dealer if I install an aftermarket exhaust though (ie. Borla Stinger)? How about an intake?

Its hard to say. It varies from dealer to dealer.. Get in good with a service tech or service manager and you should be fine

I'd be very dissapointed if a dealer voided my warranty because I added on an aftermarket exhaust. I can see them not wanting a supercharger, but I don't think an exhaust system will cause any problems at all.

I really, really doubt that they would do that. I'd buy a GM if that happened, the very next day.
