It has been reported that Ford pulls its orders on Thursdays. Do I understand that if it is not pulled on any give Thursday (by pulled I mean given a VIN or Bucked status, shipped, etc.) Then you have to wait unitl the following Thursday to receive an update?

I was told by my dealer that they only get updates on Friday, so, that being said means if this Friday I still don't have a VIN, the earliest I will have an update is next Friday. Pain in the butt!

Being a Ford empolye for almost 20 years I've orderd a few myself.
Here's the way I understand things to work for ordering.
Your dealer must sumit your order by Thursday, what time?
Then on Friday they should get a order confirmed, along with
other order up dates.
If your dealer forgets to do this, your order will be sat back a week!
Luckey me, I have a friend in our plant that can check my order.

To get a vin # or bucked all depends on the back order list.
There are also all sorts of things that can set your order back even futher,
like parts shortage for a simple option....
Vendors play heck trying to keep up with Ford, like Ford even the vendors
have their fair share of trouble in house.
We just lanched a new Ford car at our plant, we would be running 10 hr shifts
plus Saturdays, if the vendors could keep up!
These new Mustangs are like a dream come true for myself!
My plan is to wait on a SVT or what ever their gonna call it.
I should have the 1st one out of our local dealer when the time comes?

Thursday is the day that Ford matches the dealer's allocated units to their ordered units. This means that if your dealer has a vehicle(s) allocated for that particular week they will pull the next avaialable unscheduled unit, with the lowest priority and no commodities restrictions, and put it in line to be built. This is when the VIN gets assigned. The build week is usually assigned a few days later.

The rest of the updates can happen on any day of the week. For example, changing to a bucked, released, shipped status, etc. Thursday is only an important day in regards to the order getting originally put in line.
