Looking at the 01 FEB dealer order guide that was just posted:

Estimated full year sales:
Mustang GT Coupe "Deluxe" 8%
Mustang GT Coupe "Premium" 12% Mustang
GT Convertible "Deluxe" 8%
Mustang GT Convertible "Premium" 10%

That means Ford is building almost as many Verts as Coupes.
The dealers near me now seem to have more verts than coupes on their lots.

I thought that historically far more GT coupes have been sold than verts.
Is Ford screwing up the GT Coupe - Vert mix just like Ford is still building too many V6s and not enough GTs?

In 2005 they built 13,343 GT 'verts and 47,449 GT coupes. Along with 28,783 V6 'verts and 70,837 V6 coupes. Grand total 160,412.

Verts sell more come summer time, only makes sense to ramp up production of them.

on another note . . . the Verts of today (and on the 05/06 Mustangs) are way better than ever. I'm constantly forgetting that I have a vert. The great seal, the lack of wind noise, the feel of the top, the look, almost all points to a hardtop.

I think the public is finally able to have their cake and eat it too with these.

I don't think thats why most buy coupes... people like myself are more into performance and would rather have a lighter and stiffer chassis.

And some people want a GT but can't afford to get the vert.

What I'm trying to say is, that normally when you think convertible, like my old 1989 LX I used to have, the roof would wiggle, was extra loud wind noise, window seals never sealed, flapping, alignment issues, motor issues, etc. So far my 05 doesn't have any of those issues .

I'm just saying that since the Vert is closer to a hardtop, more then ever now, (for the reasons above), that some of the PA folks at Ford might be aware of this and anticipate better sales.

Yea, but for model Year 2005, the verts didn't start production until Feb 05, 5 months after the coupes started production.

If you look at the current build mix, 20% are GT coupes & 18% GT verts.

2006 model year production will be ~10 months (Aug 7, 05 - June 2, 06).
Assuming the build rate is 15,000 / month that means 30,000 06 MY GT coupes and 27,000 06 MY GT verts will be built. That seems like too many GT verts to me. I say the mix should be more like 35,000 GT coupe & 25,000 GT vert.

Also seems like Ford is building too many V6s, but that's another topic.

My GT vert has a TON of wind noise. It was good for the 1st couple of months but then darn. Time for a trip to the dealer I guess.

You're probably right. Mine has probably gotten louder over time, but I have gotten used to it . . . so in the end, it equals out ???

Too many GT verts? Where? I don't see em. In fact, I am the proud owner of the ONLY Redfire GT vert in my area! WOOHOO!

Sorry 'bout your wind noise problem. I've had mine for over 7 months now. It is as quiet as the day I got it. Well, except for the new Flowmasters.
