The Factory Add On Kit For Ambient Lighting Shows The Best Place To Tie into System. Basically The Same With The Lighted Door Sill Kit From Back in The Day! Lots of Info Can Be Gleaned From The Existing Ambient Lighting Threads Out There. Regardless of Whether You Want One Color or Multi Color. Just Some Good FYI's Also Here is a Link For Some Other Aftermarket Kits. Yes The S-197 Gen 1 Was Pretty Lacking in Interior Lighting We All Bemoaned it When The Car Was New!
Door Sill Instructions Would Probably Be Best Way To Go!
It's Been Almost 20 Years Since I Was Really Dealing With These So Forgive Me if I'm Missing Something! The Old Noodle Takes Awhile To Process Everything!
Oh BTW We Had a Guy With a Gen II S-197 Awhile Back & He Had a Car With Some Led Bulbs in The Overhead and They Would Not Function Correctly. Gotta Watch The Off Shore Stuff! The Diode Dynamics Stuff is Supposed To Be Top Notch! They Used To Be an Advertiser Here and Have a Section With Some Prioduct Info!
I Did Some Editing Suggesting Going Will Sill Instructions. I Think The Door Sill Instructions Have You Tapping into the Overhead Lights in The A-Pillar. The Instructions Are For 08 Up So Wiring Colors Maybe a Bit Different. I Can Look at an 05 A-Pillar Wiring & See What We Have.
Okay. I have to buy them and then install them. I didn't want to buy them and then someone tell me they wouldn't work. You know, there a quirks in everything.
How do you want these foot well lights to work? If you want them to just turn on when you open the door then turn off then yes, connect them to the MAP Lights... Its the simplest thing to do. I did this with my Custom LED Sills.

I Like The Red & Black, Keep it Simple. Really Nobody Will See it And One Color Would Keep Costs Down. Would use Same Gauge as Comes With Light Fixtures!
The C2280F Plug Shows 22Ga Wiring For The Interior Lamps At The SJB as an FYI! The Later Cataloging Shows Wire Gauge I think This a 2008! I Like Matching The Socket Kits Myself But it's A Personal Choice!
Something Like This if You Have a Napa Store in Your Area or Another Similar Type Auto Parts Store. Wiring By The Foot! I Would Guess You Would Need To Go Into a Store That Sold By The Foot! Probably Not Something You Would Do Online. Unless You Wanted a Whole Spool!
Thanks makes a big difference to know the size of that wire.
I also purchased these for the trunk. I'm going to install them just aft of the package tray speakers so i can see whats in the trunk.
Just purchased the non insulated but crimps, wire, split conduit, tape etc etc.

I couldn't figure out where the F connector was.
They are behind the SJB not like the diagram in the maintenance manual showing them stacked up along the door jamb.
and I'm wondering if any of these will fit?
I know Ford has a pigtail service repair kit however the pins aren't loose they are already crimped, so that doesn't do us any good.
You know what? Amazon has a great return system so we will see tomorrow.
So here if the F connector without the outer locking piece on it. I have four wires total on the F connector.
Awfully small I don't know how to get the pins out of there. Probably just butt splice the wires.
I sent an information email to these people: https://connectorexperts.com/i-31644215-cet2607.html
Looks like the correct terminal. The have hundreds of connector pins,
I don't know why I'm doing all this. I'll probably just go with but splicing the lights (maybe using the Ford method in the ambient lights instruction, looks pretty solid) to the power and ground wires on this terminal.
