I was leaving work tonight and noticed in the reflection in the car in front of me that my fog lights weren't on. I flipped the dial back and forth again, the fog light indicator on the switch is on, but they're not. I thought maybe it was a fuse, so I swapped as a 15A in - no dice...

Any thoughts? I dont think it could be the bulbs (both at once?) since they're relatively new.

What he said. Fogs turn off when brights are turned on.

Although it is also possible that they are both burned out. I would find that odd though. I just replaced one of mine after 4.5 years and 48,000 miles, and mine are always on.

Watch out when you replace the bulbs, I had the metal shield thing inside the housing fall off, and there's no way to get it out or back in right. I'm going to have to buy a whole new fog lamp for the passenger side.

Im well aware of the fog/high beam thing. I'm just trying to eliminate the most obvious. Not fuses, bulbs, switch...

What could leave the dash indicator on, but the lights remain off?

 

If nothing else, where could I get a wiring diagram of the fog lights? From a installation guide for example.

 

hate to ask a dumb question, but if theyre both relatively new, were they relatively plugged back in?

seriously, there should be a relay under the hood, I have diagrams here somewhere, will put one up if I can find it.

It is more common that you'd think for 2 bulbs to go out in short succession. I had the headlights on my dd go out within a 24 hour period.. not fun driving home in the dark alternating between highs & fogs only depending on traffic.

 

They're new in the sense that they're only 2 years old. I mean I should get more than 2 years outta a pair of bulbs and they've been working fine. I've had my car for 4 years, so I'm familiar with the typical issues. It's just this has me stumped.
