Flying with the angels
Stepping out of my house today, something felt different. This wouldn't be a normal drive in to work. The air was heavy with humidity. So much so that the dew in the air was palpable on the roof of your mouth. My car sat there waiting for me as she does every morning, eager to launch into the hour long adventure that is the morning commute.
She was covered from end to end, top to bottom with tiny beads of dew. It glistened spritely from the meager amount of sunlight forcing its way through the ghostly fog that kissed the tops of the trees.
I threw the door open, and brought her to life. She rumbled happily as if to say "Mornin' hun!" in a voice so gentle it made my hair stand on end.My wife hopped into the car as I forced the affairous thoughts from my head. BEHAVE! I wispered gently to her so as not to alert my wife.
Together, we all rolled down the driveway. This morning was definately different. No traffic at all to stop me from leaving the house. Away we went launching onto the 2 lane country road. She bristled with excitement as we grooved along. Every turn she pressed ahead begging me to throttle down. No... I must be tame! I kept reigning her in cautiously.
Turning the next corner, I accelerated softly. Suddenly, I looked down to notice she was running 70! Baby come on! Again I reigned her in. As we ventured down the country back roads, I had to keep her in check. There have been reports of Troopers monitoring the roads like a principal watching the halls of a highschool.
Finally I reached the interstate, missing the bus that usually adds 5-10 minutes to my trip. How unusually wonderful! Traffic was also unusual this morning. It was heavy as a sleepless morning's breath. The roads were filling with cars like ants rushing out of a crushed mound. Suddenly my car starts acting claustrophobic. I need room to run free, not pace setters and heards she groaned.
That's exactly what we got, however. People camping out in the passing lane. Slow pokes in the driving lane. There was no room to move, and she was begging to streach out - like a lioness in a cage that's too small.
Finally a streach of road opened up before me. Everyone had packed into the passing lane in preparation for a usually busy on-ramp. Now was my chance to free her from her bindings.
I pressed the pedal and the transmission downshifted 2 gears - exactly where I wanted it. Changing lanes, I saw an even longer streach than I had originally hoped for. I forced the pedal down more, and she streached out. My wife grabbed on next to me and sighed heavilly with displeasure.
65... 70... 80... Upward we shot like a rocket into the sky. 90... 100... 110... I felt like I was flying with the angels. Time seemed to slow down as we cut through its very fiber. I passed what seemed like 100 cars in just seconds leaving most of the drivers stunned behind me. It felt as if I had touched the clouds with the very tips of my fingers.
She relaxed, and we settled in for the rest of the long drive to work. 1/2 down, 1/2 to go. It was sure to get more interresting from here... And it did.

Feels like stang spirit. It will never fade away. I go in the garage every day to put the trash in cans, or get somthing out of out chest freezer and just smile because she (05GT Vert) is there sitting beside my 65 Vert. Great picture and good feeling.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Seeing those cars seperately evokes lots of emotion. You get an even bigger rush when you see them both together!
I got my cars cleaned up this past weekend and was hoping to get a really nice shot of both together. The battery died in the camera and then the sun went down before I could snap the pic.
I've had the '05 since december, and I just can't seem to get a picture of it with my old one! It's more elusive than hens' teeth.
Definately a cool way to start my day off, although... no.... I'm not going to spoil the ending. There's another half to the story.
Needless to say that the entire trip was a roller coaster ride that left me wanting to turn around and do it all over again... not go in to work.
Kissing the 100+'s before 6:30 in the morning is quite a shot in the arm, that's for sure! It'll wake you up faster than a cup of black columbian coffee!

We had our turn at 105 on a back road going to a car show. We crest a hill and had lift off. Felt like Dukes of Hazard. Too cool! Love that car!!!!!
Any way here is our cars

Thanks all. It's funny because I tend to be shy in person. Give me a piece of paper or a computer to type on and suddenly I can't help but write stuff like that.
Guess I should have considered writing. Ultimately I still could... it's just hard thinking up original ideas that people would be willing to pay money to read. Who knows? May happen.
Perhaps I'll craft a few more of these for folks to read... that is if people are interrested.

that was very poetic. Your command of the English language is applaudable and the images your words brought to mind captured the spirit of the mustang that we all feel as we drive it even though we may not be able to express it as well as you. Thanks. :worship:
