Hello, i just bought a 2008 gt with 25000 miles on it, manual.
i want to change fluids and filters. I checked the manual and , here where i live in europe i dont have the brands..
I checked on Castrol and they recomand for my car Castrol GTX 5W-30, but in the car s manual says 5w-20. So...
can you please give some equivalents for oils and filters so i can find it here also ?

Motorcraft 5-20w semi synth is spec. I use a Wix filter, but I know K&N and Mobil 1 are great also. Have heard a lot of people who recommend Mobil 1. I would say stick with the spec weight oil (5-20w). Have given my 05 GT oil changes with the motorcraft oil and wix filters every 3k miles, and have made it to 125k on the car without problems. Some mustang owners swear by royal purple, personally I haven't tried it (and am hesitant to do so).

Also have you checked your trans fluid? You're not really "due" as our transmissions are supposedly "never service" but I know it doesn't hurt to do a fluid change around 50k miles. Also doesn't hurt to check the level/color of it.

 

ok, Mobil is not very good qulity here in romania. I prefer Motul 5w-20 , but is fully synth, it matters?
also can you recomand something for trans?
