I am about to hit 3,000 km so I will be changing my oil this weekend. Normally on a new car I do it at 2,500 km and again at 5,000 km then follow the 5,000 rule afterwards.

I will get mine at 1000 miles. I am thinking about Mobil 1 I am not sure if I need to wait till 3000 for synthetic though. From what I have read some say 1000 is ok and others say 3-5000. I am at about 475 miles now.

I thought I'd do regular oil at 2500 km and 5000 km and then switch to synthetic at 10,000 km (6,213 miles)

We did our first at 500 and will do another at 2000 and switch to Mobil 1. After that it will probably be every 3000 miles. My hubby isn't too sure about the 5000 mile interval.

Mine went in at 725 miles with ford oil and filter. At 2,000-3,000 will switch to Mobil one and Ford filter and do 3,000 miles after that.

I did my first change on my 2000 GT at 2,000 and went to Mobil 1. I change it every 5,000 and use a Ford filter. I have 127,000 on it now and uses no oil between changes.

500 km first oil change just in case of chips or burr's in pan from factory ,then every 3000 km .Oils not just a lubricant it's a cleaner as well ,so the more often you change it the cleaner the motor will stay in the long run.

If anybody has changed their own oil......is it a 'clean drain'? Just curious if oil drains all over cross members or anything else, or if it's a straight shot to the drain pan (including filter).

Why are some of you folks changine the oil after only 1000 miles.

The maintenance guide says every 5000 miles I think.

They're just doing at the first 1000 mile mark...better to be on the safe side with a new engine!

But why change the oil after only 1000 miles.

the manual never mentions changing the oil after the first 1000 miles. What is the logic behind this ?

with a new engine there are little tiny metal particals that can come off durring the brake in process and you want to get rid of them, so doing it at 1000 is a great idea IMO
