I finally took ownership of a 2005 Ford Mustang GT. We drove it 150 miles to get it home and tacked on another 50 once we got her home. I know it's not too safe to street race, but.....
A toyota MR2 spyder pulled up next to me. He was squirten what seemed to me to be Nitrous. We started from a stop light and I pulled away initially but I backed down and he blew by me. So he turned the corner and I followed onto a desolate road. He took off and I caught up with him and blew by him. We came upto a curve in the road and I backed off again. He caught up and was signaling to roll down my windows. He proceeded to ask about the specs and was excited to see one around here. I was, of course, estatic! So, I've given it my little test and decided that this car has plenty of power. I don't frequent Moroso race track, so I don't feel the need to apply a s-charger any time soon. I'm not gauging this by means of a MR2, but am very satisfied with the stock power of a GT.
My digital camera is up in PA and will be here this weekend. I will take some video clips and plenty of pics.
I just want to say: Thanks to all here for the information and mental support through the duration. Hopefully, I can meet some of you through my travels.
David

I definately will be posting pics as soon as I get my camera back from the in-laws. This morning, people were looking at the car as if they've never even heard of them. LOTS of looks though! Why is it that getting looks makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Lots of will people will challenge the new ponies. I guess the car looking so tough, people feel compelled to rev up and test you out. It's pretty populated around here and there are quite a few ricers around. I don't have a single complaint about the car. No gas fill-up issues, no extraordinary noises, nothing! I think it is pretty sweet that the radio volume adjust with speed! Lovin it! Oh, and one other thing, the exhaust. This morning, we took our son to school and my wife jumped all over me because we were in a school zone. She told me to slow down, when in actuality, we were doing the speed limit. The exhaust threw her off. I love it!

SWEET 169 - yeah, get some pics of that Bad Boy Pony UP!!!

Where are you at in South Florida? I'm in the Sunrise area! (and still waiting patiently to hear something back on the order for my Black GT....)

You definitely traveled to go pick up your Horse - where did you get it?

[Looks to be same for me - my brother handled the order for mine through a family connection who works for Ford - going to have it delivered to a dealership this person knows - which means we'll have to shoot up to Palm Bay Ford (?) - somewhere right near the southern tip of Lake Okeechobee..... ]

Congrats. They do sound sweet don't they. I got to start one up at a nearby dealer. I've never heard a new car sound so good. Even the wife loved the sound. Sure wish I could get one. I found what I want, but without $11,900. to pay off the wifes Tahoe, it just isn't happening!

I'm in West Palm Beach. I got mine from Bartow Ford. 2-2 1/2 hr drive. (Pike to Yeehaw Junction, rt 60 West to rt. 98-Bartow, North 2 miles.)
From Sunrise, Palm Bay is about 2 hrs North on I95. I believe that dealership is on rt. 192 (not absolutely possitive). My sister lives in Palm Bay and it takes me about 1 1/2 hours to get there.
I should be asshamed for not having my camera. I'm going to have to park my 69 coupe out front and take a pic of the both side by side!

Cool - thanks for the info!

Yeah, I know where good ole Yeehaw Junction is....

Get those pics up - eager to see 'em!

Maybe after I get my black GT, we'll cross paths - I don't plan on running it at MOROSO but my brother is up there fairly often to run his 9-second car. (see the website in my profile) Be cool to meet someone else local from the Stangnet!

(actually, there's a place down here right off 595 and University drive - a plaza called Tower Shops - where folks go on Friday nights and show off theirr rides. My sister in law is getting a Redfire GT - so we're thinking about doing one friday ngiht after they both come in with both of our GTs and my brothers' car on the trailer... definitely make for some cool pics!!)

Best of luck with you new Mustang. I hope to someday see all the colors. So far I have only seen two black v6s and one silver v6.
