Transmission Fell Out

The 06 has 5,000 miles or so on it.
I think the clutch plate went out. (FORTUNATELY I wasn't driving it at the time), but you can no longer downshift, only upshift-Its going in for service in the morning.

Anyone else have this oddity happen?

Saturday night we were out in it, and when Brian went to downshift it wouldn't go- it sounded like he was grinding them.

At least its his, not mine broke and all sad!

Ouch, don't sound like the clutch though.

That sounds more like the syncronizers than a clutch plate. The syncs can go out if you do a lot of downshifting at higher speeds than that gear should be used in. ie: shifting down to second while your at 70mph, or shifting down to 1st while at 45mph...even if you don't let the clutch out, just putting it in gear at higher speeds can really do a number on syncronizers.

I don't know what because I never drive it. Its under warranty and going in this morning. You can upshift, but not downshift.

I said clutch plate, because I have had that happen before(just out of warranty, not a mustang OUCH!) But in that case, I couldn't get it in gear at all.

Will find out later today what horrible thing has befallen it.

Well its in.

They gave Brian a HUGE F-150 for his rental. Ew. He thinks he is going to drive My mustang until his gets back.

They didn't say when he was getting it back, but I am guessing not today!!

It only has 5,000 miles on it. I don't understand. and NO I didn't break it, I have driven it exactly four times, and not recently.

Synchros went bad on it.

It won't be out of the shop until at least Friday.

Odd

He doesn't handle his with little white gloves like I do mine......... Therefore, Ellie is in Mint condition and Ralph is in the ford hospital

He drives a manual like a typical man drives a manual....***** to the wall. I guess he wouldn't let me drive it because I was being nice to the poor thing.

That F-150 in my driveway is FUGLY though- I want Ralph back.

Update:

The entire transmission is bad. Whole thing just fell out. Ford says it was born that way.

May come back Friday.

Apparently when it was opened up, there wasn't a part in there that could be used. Must have been built on a Friday! Has anyone else had a transmission fall out at just 5,000 miles?

I had always thought it shifted funny, third in particular, it just didn't want to go up there.

What happened was Saturday night he went to go into second(albeit, he was in the middle of making me pee myself in fear at the time) and it didn't go. Monday It wouldn't downshift-but it would upshift and Tuesday it went into the shop.

It may be back today- I hope.
I hope so, Brian is starting to get used to the F-150, and I think its creepy.

I had an automatic transmission go out in a Mercury at 2,500 miles that they had to replace.

I guess I don't understand.
My car has 35k and change on it, and other than the shaker being a POS I have had zip for problems.

This one is just already broke.

I do realize mine is female driven and his is male driven, but that doesn't make sense for the transmission to just say screw it already.

This keeps getting stranger.

It was ready to pick up yesterday. When the service manager drove it around for pickup, the check engine light came on.
They hooked it up and four codes came back.

They said they have no idea what 3 of them are, but the fourth one means it was unsafe to drive.

Needless, its still at the shop. Anyone have ANY idea what could be wrong with this car??

I am worried Ralph is a big screw up now.

WOW - that's tough luck with so few miles. Better to have them swap the entire tranny for a new one than fix the old one. Hopefully he'll have it back soon......and be nice to the F-150 (I have an '05 SCrew and I really like it)

One would think........
But Hertz was closed by the time they got it off the machine. They sent him home in a POS lumina this time. To add to the embarassment- it has a tag applied for on it, like we bought the POS.

I hope it comes back soon, and I really hope it isn't a lemon.

Mine has 35,000+ miles on it and never a problem but the shaker, so this makes no sense to me.
