I have 08 V6 car. Today car died on road. Turns out when I turn on headlights, turn signal or hazard lights the engine immediately dies. Then the engine light and battery light turn on. Also when I turn on headlight switch parking lights and headlights do not turn on but tail lights turn on. I am baffled. Any ideas?

 

Have you checked your alternator?

 

Yeah check your alternator. If you have a multimeter check your voltage at the battery while car is running. It should read around 13.4-14.6. If reading is lower you will most likely need a new alternator.

 

Electrical issues are common. Go to AutoZone/etc. and have them check your battery and alternator. That will most likely fix your issues.

 

x2 on the autozone thing drive on up there if you can. Test your battery voltage before you start it too. Your battery may be shot as well.

 

well after a more in depth search of the engine compartment the issue was a ground wire. thanks for all the responses.
