Engine cover getting worn

The hood mat is rubbing on my ford engine cover so I am using a wash cloth to lay on it till I figure out a more permanent solution. I drove around all day with the washcloth on and it did not move since the hood mat had it pressed firmly againt cover..anyone else experiencing this??

No engine cover here. Just a strut tower brace that hits it.
I just wish they would have givin us another 1/2 inch under the hood.
Has any body had their strut tower brace put a groove in the hood insulation?

My '05 came with a engine cover. It's called a hood.
No problems yet with it.

My FRPP STB hits the insulation. So far not enough to rub through, just enough to put little creases in it.

I had my hood/heat liner replaced as I had a couple holes in the liner from it rubbing the engine.

IT was a warrently replacement.

They must know there was a problem with them as the one they replaced it with is completly different.
My new liner already has the cut out if I add a working scoop.

It's hard to tell but I circled the holes in red.

Yep.
Just went out and took one.
Sorry I was incorrect about the cut out.

The liner in the pic above (my first port) was orig from factory when I got it.

This one they said was from Ford as I told them no after market.

That's the liner I got from the factory (with the scoop holes). I think they switched over near the end of the '06 run for the '07 scoop options.
My GMS double bar brace makes an indent at the back bar which prevents the front from touching. It sits fairly low and might hit a cover if I had one.

Are there different liners for the V6's and V8's?

My car is a V6

I was thinking the change had to do with a scoop.
I was thinking that maybe they gave me a GT liner

You had me worried as I noticed some minor wear as well. I just checked by putting duct tape upside down on the engine cover and closed the hood. The tape never moved...

I could actually see a line wearing across the engine cover and then looked at the hood pad and noticed where the silver paint was going..The wash cloth method works like a champ..no ones gonna know anyway.as soon as I open the hood,I start using the cloth to wipe down engine..It's all part of my devious plan

I've got the later liner on my 06 & am getting the paint worn off on my intake cover also.
Will try the cloth idea also.
Thanks

The first '07 I saw at the dealership left an indent in the liner. I knew there would be trouble.

Can someone point out the differences in the 2 liners that PonyLover posted. In the area where he showed the holes, they look the same to me.
Now you guys are going to make me go check mine.

I think the liners are pretty much the same, just little changes from my old one to the new one.

I was in a car show today and seen a 06 GT and the liner looked like me old one, so there must not be a difference from the V6's to GT's

By the way I took top 3 in the 1990-2006 catagory

Stangnut,
The newer ones have holes through for the optional scoops, the 'older' ones are solid & don't have the holes.Only difference I saw. Both seem to rub the intake covers.
