If you need to top it off, use 50/50, but make sure it is the same type as what is already in your car. If it is yellow/gold, use that type. If it is green, use that type. The cars come with the yellow from the factory and it is a different type than the green...not compatible.

Depending on how much is needed to top off. Use 100% antifreeze one time, next time use 100% water. It will all even out if not a large amount. 50/50 is ideal, but we dont live in a ideal world now do we!

Just buy 50/50, that way you dont have to go buy distilled water to mix with it. If you use tap water your just asking for mineral deposits and corrosion. Dont use bottled water or filtered water either. If you are going to mix it yourself use distilled. Other water treatments leave alot of minerals in the water. I believe walmart sells motorcraft radiator fluid 50/50 mix.

To fill up the resevoir to the max cold fill level. Our mustangs dont have a radiator cap to fill directly into the radiator.

oops, when I replaced my hoses I lost some coolant. So I jst replaced it with prestone 50/50. Now Stoenr tells me I should not have mixed it. Should I drain it at start empty?? If I do that, how do I drain it. I rather spend a little extra money now than screw something up.....help!!!

Don't panic--last I knew Prestone claimed to be compatible with all colors of coolants. Whether it is optimal to mix them is another matter. But at least I don't think you've ruined your cooling system. I personally would flush and refill it with all one brand (whatever type Ford recommends) at your earliest opportunity just to be sure.

As far as how to drain your radiator, Prestone used to make a flush kit that involved splicing a plastic "T" into the heater hose and flushing with a garden hose. It worked well, but introduced tap water minerals into the cooling system. I haven't used one in years, and don't know if they still make them. Perhaps there is a better way to do it now. Just draining the radiator from the valve in the bottom of it leaves some coolant in the system.
