End Caps for tail pipes? An idea to minimize

I noticed on a 350Z today the end caps on the exhaust pipes. Are end caps what you call those end pieces sticking off the tail pipes? Anyway, I was thinking of getting a pair of thick end caps shaped similarly and attaching those to the end of the stock exhaust system. That would at least hide the mufflers a little better. I agree with the placement of the mufflers, but I would not like them to be so visible.

So the question - as early in the game as it is, does anyone have any info on the size of the 05 GT tail pipes and the bumper openings? can any current endcaps be attached to that size factory exhaust and exhaust opening?

Any info would be appeciated!

i'm sure the pipe size is going to be fairly common. 2", 2.5" something like that. you can probably find something for them at a lot of exhaust shops, or aftermarket parts dealers. a few ford dealerships in my area, like tommie vaughn, have an performance parts shop nearby.

you'll prolly be able to get something once the car is available.

yaa end caps would cover the Mufflers up. I don't like how you can see the mufflers. But not to long ago I saw a chop where the mufflers were covered up. It didn't look to good. and it was a good chop

You need the chrome tips welded on with rolled ends, pure 60's Bullitts and Machs have them.

You need to be either really short or kneeling down to see the mufflers, and even then its kinda hard. It's not as big a problem as the pictures would lead you to believe...

I disagree! This pic shows me that those mufflers are as visible as can be to an other driver.

Well, yeah, I forgot about sitting in a car(duh!)...best bet I think is to go with painting 'em black or accentuating the exhaust with some tasteful chrome(my preferred choice)

(Personally, imho, I like the exposed look, it is very functional)

I am happy that the Mustang has true dual exhaust. It does not bother me that it shows, it looks much better than the what another competitor has done...

I think painting the mufflers black would look weird too. Maybe a dull charcoal color would be better.
I want to see tubes coming from underneath too, not just 2 floating tips. Unfortunatley that is a more expensive and workful alternative. People who change their whole exhaust system should do that.(place mufflers in the center of the car)

I remember reading somewhere on here that might not be as easy as it sounds...

I cant believe mufflers in the back bother so many people. Only 95-97% of all new cars have them there.

I gotta agree with you. I don't understand why it's such a big deal. There's this wonderful new Mustang with a modern chassis and more potent base V8 and people are harping on the visible mufflers in the rear and the unpainted mirrors.
