eBay Login WATCH OUT !
#1
I have been eBaying since 2000 and have been through a lot of phishing and junk from being a BIG eBay user. I just could not believe what I just saw today:
here's their trap:
I was searching and clicked on an auction that said "2005 Mustang GT $6000 buy it now".
I clicked and the auction page displayed for seconds and then I got a login screen that looked exactly like the eBay screen. It wanted my username and password to proceed. (This does occassionally occur throughout normal surfing with their site). I was very fortunate to take a look at the "Address bar" in the browser and it had a different address with a re-direct flavor to it.
I typed:
user name: "You are stealing user names"
password: "and passwords"
I then reported it to eBay. By the time I got back to the auction page to look it over again they were all gone. There was about a half dozen of the auctions before I did this. They are able to hijack accounts this way.
As a favor to yourself change your eBay password today. You may have had this happen to you and not know it.

Thanks for the good info! I am on there a lot also. I also have been getting a lot of fake Paypal emails asking for me to log in stating that someone from another country way trying to access my account and they temporarily suspended it and I should click on their link to reactivate. I did not and reported it immediately.

i fell for one of those paypal emails when i was drunk, came home from a bar and wanted to order something, and got this paypal email. filled it out, about a day later citibank calls and said someone in romania just tried to withdraw $100 with my atm card. they had printed a duplicate of my atm card. citi suspended my acct, sent new cards, that was it. i learned paypal/ebay and drinking is bad!

An older friend of my parents got took in that scheme. He was trying to buy a tractor and found a really good price on a buy it now. He ended up wiring money to these people and never got a his tractor.
Whats really sad is the number of people that get taken this way. I know alot of older people that would think it was all legit. My parents friend got taken for $6K.
I too have gotten an unusual number of the paypal and ebay phishing emails lately. I always forward them to spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com.

They run the same scam with Classic Mustangs. I've seen ads run consistently for Boss 302 / 429 Mustangs for $6000 - $8000. I reported to Ebay as well but the ads keep running.

I've seen this too, instead it says "BUY IT NOW FOR 6000" and it has a picture of a naked woman instead of a car. its a shame that ive been seeing this on ebay for a week or so and they've not done anything about it.

I received an email last week that said I hadn't paid for my item and I needed to make a Pay Pal payment to an ebay bidder. I hadn't bought anything and just ignored it. I was busy and didn't report it.
Lot's of predators out there. I think it is best to buy from TMS sponsors. I've received everything I've ever ordered and had no problems.
