E-mail to dealerships
I am wanting to send e-mails to all the dealerships in my area and I was wondering if anyone had one that they used that gets good responses. I am wanting to use the x-plan on the 05 and want to ask them about it in a way that will get a positive response. I have sent out a couple so far and have heard nothing yet. Any help would be appreciated. :worship:

I sent out an e-mail saying I'm looking into ordering a 2005 Mustang GT coupe to about twenty dealerships in my area. I just asked if they were taking orders(this was last week), that I was ready to put down a refundable deposit, and left my e-mail and cell number. I've gotten about six mails back and one call. Only two of the dealers knew anything about the 5/17 order date, so those are the ones I'm calling...
I talked to my dealership and he told me that quite a few dealers will not accept employee discounts for the 05 (A, Z and X plan). I remember Kevin saying this too.
He said that they would probably only reject the discount for cars on the lot though. Orders were a different story, but I imagine they will probably try to tell some "overly-eager" customers that they won't accept it for orders either.
He knows I won't buy from them unless I get my discount. If I have to search every dealer in within 1000 mi, I will get A-plan. If they all say no. I'll wait. I will not pay 3 grand more than I have to. Even if it means waiting for an 06. Fortunatly I won't have to though
I would advise walking out the door if they don't let you use your discount. There are a lot of dealers out there. Someone will give it to you, and eventually supply will catch up with demand.

I emailed the 'big' four Ford dealers in my area, all four of them said that employee pricing on the car would NOT be a problem, there are 2 that im considering, one promised me a copy of the order guide in .pdf format for me to play with, and the other has been very informative and willing to work with me, i've just emailed them both, and hopefully will stop in tomorrow before work and get everything settled.

My salesman said they had a meeting and discussed whether they should allow these discounts. They probably put all their heads together talking about all the people they talked to that were jumping to buy em.
I know a guy with a new gto and he told me he got raped when he bought his car. He ordered it way in advance and they got him to pay above msrp because they siad they were going to be "hard to come by" and because he was so darn eager he did it. They told him that that would be the only one they would get. Not to much after that they had 3 more sitting on the lot. LOL They seen him coming 100 miles away.
I don't think those things are selling like Pontiac hoped. Are they?

From what I understand about my X-Plan it's pretty cut and dry.
Either a dealer excepts it or doesn't, that's it.
The only vehilce I cannot buy on my X-Plan is a F-450 super duty. And certain specialty models. I don't think I could buy a cobra on my X-Plan. But my dealer says the GT is no problem.
A dealer can't except SOME people for A, X, or D and refuse to except other peoples. They either do or don't.
If I'm wrong let me know because this is what I got from my dealer.
Any dealers out there?

You're right. I didn't pre-order mine for that reason.
I was able to buy with the GM supplier (we get X plan too) and bought my GTO for $400 over invoice. Some guys are paying msrp and of course you have the dealers out there charging over msrp and some people pay it. I won't. The cars are now sitting on the dealers lots, especially the automatics, and now the dealers are realizing how dumb they are. The one thing that might make it easier for the Mustang is there will be many more of them available than the GTO, but the demand will be higher as well.
I will wait until the dealer accepts the X plan to buy mine, plus I have to wait til spring because thats when my pickup is paid for. So I shouldn't have any problem getting a Mustang at X plan then.
at the dealership i work at, i had to convince the GSM to sell my mach 1 to me on D plan.
they can refuse to sell on these plans, ive seen it. i dont see any reason why they would do this on the Mustang GT or V6.
im working deals right now on two mystics at invoice. its time for the cobras to go, so the gsm is ready for them to go.
we have about ten cobras in stock, more than any other ford dealer in chattanooga.

I really didnt think a dealer could refuse to take your A,X or D plan that is new to me.

This doesn't happen when your buying a explorer, taurus, or any other ford for that matter because there are plently available, and there is no surge of anxious people to rushing to buy everything up.
When something like the 05 mustang, or the 04 gto comes out the dealerships have the upper hand. For a little while anyways...

Man, I think there is some mis information here. One dealer saying they can refuse plans and others saying no they can't.
I need to find out for sure. My dealer says that if a dealer excepts and of the mentioned plans that they cannot refuse your plan, bottom line.
Either they except plans or they don't, period. We need some clarafication here.
The only restrictions my X-Plan has is they type of vehicle I can buy. Like I can't buy a Martin Austin Vanquish or a F-450. But everything else is game and if a dealer excepts X-Plan he cannot refuse me.

Bottom line is just look around til you find someone that will. You aren't required to buy your ordered car if they don't let you use it later on. Just get it in writing maybe?
If your just buying off the lot, look around til you find a dealer that will take it.
My dealer said that it was no problem that they will except it. I'm not ordering an 05. I'll wait for about 6 months or so when it comes out. I'll buy mine off the lot.
Just waiting for that sleek premium black one with a charcaol interior.

There is no misinformation. A dealer is a seperate entity, independent from Ford. Any and every dealer has the choice to accept or refuse Ford discount plans for any reason, regardless. Ford cannot force a dealer to accept the plan, it just sweetens the pot so they will. (Ford gives the dealer a full commission, which means if you're gettin A or X plans and are trading in, get them to bump your trade in value, they get paid the same regardless, they're not losing the cash either way!)
Recap: no dealer MUST accept discount plans; however, most do, but each individual dealer is different, there's no blanket rule that oversees them all.
If you are lucky enough to have an A or X plan, the dealer is receiving a full commission, and if you're trading in, you 'should' be able to get some more bucks out of the car, because he's still getting a full check.
