drift racing is in no way gay.
It has to be one of, if not THE hardest form of racing. The push their cars to the total edge of control yet are in control the entire time. That RIDES show that was refered to earlier featured a GTO that was setup for drifting by Stillen. They did a quality job, but there were just too many issues to overcome the first year of it's entry.
I have alot of respect for the fact that they can drive such a technical race style and still make it look entertaining. No flames here, but how exciting is the avg. 1/4 mile race??

read my first post.
there are two sides to the competition. One is the show points.
One is the fastest around the track by clock time<---- sounds like a race to me

2. Drifiting is not the fastest way around the track.
3. Drifiting is about on the same level as underbody neons, euro tails, and fart cans.
That, is of course, my road racing opinion. Opinion. Opinion.

i believe they describe it as ice skating on asphalt with cars...... on that Rides episode. Its not all that bad to watch, its a lot more interetsing than nascar racing. I'm sure it would be fun to do to.

Drifting looks pretty cool to watch. I've been with my friend to a few drifting events and it's awesome seeing how close cars would get to the wall. As NipplelessHorse said, "it's better than Nascar racing."

Put me on a track and I will lap some drifters up with it in no time.

I think if anyone drifted, rather than watching it, they would love it. Like I said i'm not a race watching type person. I have yet to drift, but looks like it'd be a blast.

I'll do a short drift around a corner (just a bit of oversteer), but drifting overall is kinda pointless and stupid, IMO.
And people try it with front wheel drives and all sorts of cars. Shoot, I did it with my Explorer on accident one night when it was wet out.
Drifting is just about the slowest way to get around a corner. Anyone who had ridden a dirt bike should know this. It may be fun to do, but it certainly isn't racing.
