Basically I would tell the dealer that if there is no DORA then the order has not been placed. He is feeding you a line of BS. The DORA is an acknowledgement that the Ford ordering system has the order. Hence Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement.

I don't want to bore everyone, so this is my last reply on this topic. I ordered my GT 2/16/05 and got the VOC immediately. I have tried to get the DORA from my dealer but they say the VOC and DORA are basically the same thing, proof of an order in the system. They don't have a "DORA" and when I ask them for one they basically don't know about it. They showed me also a computer printout from Ford that had a number of order numbers on it including mine with my name and it also said clean unscheduled. My order is C/U and not serialized as of this morning per the robot lady. So indeed Ford has the order in their system. Maybe some dealers do business different than others and I do trust my dealer. So I'll leave the VOC/DORA discussion at that. I can't explain why some of you have "DORA"s and others don't. I think as long as the robot lady responds to your order number, then you must be in the system.

Thanks

There is a distinct difference between the two...

VOC - The order has been placed with the dealership.
DORA - The dealership has placed the order with Ford.

Get that DORA!

Someone on here posted that they used the VOC order # and they were getting a status. But the DORA had a different # and magically the system couldn't find the car.

You are partially correct. If you have seen the status report you know you have been ordered, you know your order number and priority and you know your status. What you can't be sure of without the DORA is the exact specs that got typed in when the vehicle was ordered. Chances are good that no typos were made but I sure wouldn't want to wait for the car and have it arrive with the wrong equipment.

After trying to contact sales rep and fleet manager all week with no success I called Ford Customer Service and let them know what was going on .
Guess what ..... I got a call from the GM of the dealership this morning.
I told him I had been trying all week to get a copy of the DORA or VOC with no cooperation from the sales rep.He said they came provide me with that info when Ford pulls the order and that I should have used less specific terms than DORA or VOC with the sales rep ( ARE YOU KIDDING ME )that is why the sales rep did not know how to handle the situation .He said they did place my order from last Saturday but that they did not place the order until Wednesday because Thursday is when the order bank picks up the order so it would make no difference to do it any earlier. He said when Ford allots to build that order and pulls it, that is when I will get a copy of the order. :bang:
The DORA is available the day after the order is put in the system. If it was ordered weds the DORA was available yesterday, this morning at the lataest. If you don't get the DORA until the order is scheduled, it kinda defeats the purpose of having it. If the made a mistake on the order and you don't find out until it is scheduled there is nothing you can do. Get the DORA now.
[/b][/quote]

Hey Karpo, I talked to someone at the dealership who my sister knows. He has been more helpful then my own salesman. Anyways, he told me as of today that my DORA is available. I ordered the car on March 5th. If I get the DORA, should it have a date on it close to my order date, and not around the current date? If it does have a date on it that is around now and not around March 5th (my order date), should I take issue with that, seeing as I am told today there are 14 Mustangs ahead of me that they're waiting on? My fear may have come true; I ordered under X-plan, and they may have put orders in ahead of mine of people that had NO plan, then put mine in later, when all the orders where they could get MSRP + markup were entered. Do you think this could be an issue, and something I should bring up with the dealer, once I see my DORA, if the date is not around March 5th, but around the current (March 23rd) date? Thanks! :worship:

As I understand it the DORA is produced the day after the order is submitted to Ford. So if they submitted your order on the 5th the DORA should be dated the 5th or 6th. If not the order wasn't submitted until the date that is listed on it.

It will show right on the DORA the date the order was submitted. They don't need to hold your order to put others ahead of you, they can do that by adjusting priorities. That will be more important than the order date.

I am REALLY starting to get pissed off at this dealership ( ). I think they are jerking me around, and I don't like to get jerked around, I get VERY angry. I placed the order 3/5/2005 and have YET to get my DORA. Each time I call up or go in, it's another story. I think they either haven't submitted my order or they gave me a pooty priority and they don't want me to see this. If the woman with the key to the room isn't in, then the computers are down or they don't call me back or get back to me. Seriously, I'm going down to the dealership after work today and there's going to be heck to pay. I've bought a 1999 Escort ZX2 brand new from them, got my 2002 Mustang GT Convertible from them brand new (2 new cars since 1999, this would be my 3rd). My other family members have bought 3 brand new cars from them as well, since 1998. This is NOT how you treat loyal customers who are willing to give you their business. I'm ready to look elsewhere, maybe even buy one off a dealer's lot. I ordered a 2005 GT Convertible, but I have a 2002 GT Convertible (which I'm keeping). Maybe I'll just go buy a 2005 Coupe GT off another dealer's lot....I'm starting to think I don't need 2 convertibles and this dealer doesn't need my business. :bang:

I talked with my salesman yesterday, because I couldn't get an ERL status with the info I had (of course I didn't tell him that) turns out the order number I had on my sales info was a "dummy" number that they used to set my order. When I asked him about the DORA, he talked with the guy who does their orders and apparently they only get a DORA if they request/"order" it, i.e. it is not automatically produced. These guys don't regularly order it, but they use some other list, they gave me the correct order number and now I can get ERL info. Even though it is C/U I feel better that I'm not being deceived. you can always call the Ford Customer Service number as well

During my "shopping experience" to acquire a Mustang GT, I have probably talked to at least 6 to 10 different dealerships. No two dealerships were even close to being the same. I'm not sure if it's professionalism or just plain better salesmanship, but some of them sure give you a better feeling about working with them than others. Since I am still waiting for my car, so there is still the most important part of the transaction that has yet to occur, so not until then will I know for sure that I picked the right one.

And for anyone out there that wants to get a few laughs about used car salesmen, check out the movie called "Slasher."

Man I love this site. You guys are seriously incredibly helpful with all this stuff. After reading this thread I now know that I have had my VOC in my hand for 2 weeks!LOL I just called and asked my salesman to fax me the DORA. He is supposedly doing so shortly. Fingers crossed. I noticed on my VOC I have a priority of 10. I read something on another thread about 10 being good, is this true? Also whoever said on here that they ordered tgheirs and the dealer didnt put the order in until wednesday because the pc pics the orders on thrusday that is what my dealer told me as well. I called him and placed my order that thursday morning and he said i was still ok since the order hadnt been pic'd yet so hopefully that is true and we didnt both get lied to. Now once I get my DORA is there a phone # I can call to find out more info like delivery and such? If not what are my next steps? And I cannot beleive that sales manager told someone that you should have been more general that the salesman didnt understand DORA. They are in the business to understand. If the salesman dont know wtf he is doing it is time for a new salesman.

They're thinking that this is just a car ! If you search this site for VOPC, you'll find that because the number is oficially for Ford dealers, it is not posted or discussed here. You can call Ford's customer service number and talk to a rep who can (in theory) help you. I recommend the search though. I've also found this site really helpful (and addictive!) the other day I found out about Clay bars which I thought were for kids to use in kindergarten !

As far as I can tell, it means that your order has been placed and Ford has the order. It is the first step, effectively means you're in line. I was finally able to check the status of my order last night too after getting paranoid about "them" not putting the order in, and when I heard "her" (ERL) say that I was clean and unscheduled, I was elated. Others feel that this is purgatory since they've been waiting too long which is an individual thing. I'm going on 6 weeks tomorrow, which if you believe the whole Thursday thing is really only 5 weeks....in any case, keep reading. There is another thread that has a great link to the whole order process, what various things impact it etc and somewhere else a whole glossary of Ford order status codes...I'll look and re-respond with those for you

Well, I FINALLY got my DORA yesterday ( ), having placed the order at the dealership on 3/5/2005. I see on the DORA that the order receipt date was 3/10/2005 and the DORA processed on 3/11/2005. So the dealer sat on the order from the 5th until the 10th and then submitted it. When I ordered, I was told that there were 14 others ahead of me; when I got the DORA, my priority is 24. Assuming the dealer starts priority at 10, when I ordered, I should have been 25 (14 ahead of me, so I'm the 15th). I guess someone had their order processed and I moved up to #14 (13 ahead of me). WOOO! The weird thing is (I found this funny), my order # is the same 4 digits as the last 4 digits of my cell phone number! Such a funny coincidence! I also had my first experience with the ERL last night (as of 3/31/2005, I'm C/U), and had NO problems. I was able to get the info the first time through. So people that have problems maybe need to speak more clearly or enunciate. I found the system very easy to use!

Just because your're clean and unscheduled, doesn't guarantee you'll get scheduled anytime soon. A lot depends on the dealer's allocations for Mustangs, and GT's are increasingly harder to come by. I would think a convertible would be even harder to get.

They didnt sit on it as they turn all orders from the week in on Thursdays. So anything coming in on Friday or after goes in the following Thursday.

Mike,

What dealer did you order from? The dealers I checked with on LI didn't have very good allocations and weren't willing to accept X-plan. Unless your dealer has outstanding allocation, you might end up with an 06. Good luck and hopefully I'll see you on the road soon (I work in E Northport).
