Door Rattle Fix

Hey Guys,

A little while ago I asked about fixing a door rattle in my car. It lead to some confusion but after a lot of reading on the forum I ventured out to create this quick fix for one of your door rattles.

All you need is some velcro squares.

This is your door and that plate behind the handle grip will vibrate all the time.Name: IMAG0224_zpscca53a50.jpg

There are two clips on the back of this plate "holding" the plate in place. Located at the corners. Just give it a little pressure on the ends and you should see the plate start to pull out. Don't be afraid to pull on it and squeeze your finger behind the plate to get it to come out. If you are worried about breaking the tabs, watch the video of me doing it.

Once it is off, you will see the clips and the holes were it all lines up.

Take a set of the velcro squares and place them on the flat surface.

Now take the other set and using your nails to make as little contact with the sticky side as possible, attached them to the ones you just stuck on the door.

Reapply the plate and be sure to put it on centered and give it a few good pushes where you placed the velcro squares. You should hear them come to get a little more if you didn't go all out pushing them together in the step above.

Your done. That plate won't move again. If you want to remove the plate later on, just repeat the first step. Its just a little tougher this time. One set should be stuck to the plate now.

I also noticed the one behind the door handle to open the door rattles too. Maybe I should apply the same procedure here as well. Anyone else have the same rattle as well

That was easy, why didn't I think of that.

Thanks for the quick fix, it probably works with other rattles too.

That rattles for me as well. My emergency brake tends to rattle as well. Really would like to find a solution for that.

HA! I did this SO long ago on Awesome. Great minds, amirite? And yeah, the ones behind the door handles need one square of the soft stuff. Both squares will make it not go back in, seems like I remember... I should probably pop one off and double check. But IIRC, the soft stuff on the back will shut it up really good so it's all ya need.

Great tutorial! Like the video explaining the removal.

/I woulda sworn I posted that fix before... but hey, I like yours way better, I'm sure mine sucked, and didn't have pictures I can assure ya.

haha, no worries. And thanks for the compliments.

As for the rattle by the door open lever, mine doesn't do it. But I would imagine its the same. But houtex seems to have done it before so give it a whirl.

I have one other rattle that is pretty bad when I go over bumps. It sounds like it is behind me, but I am having an extremely hard time narrowing it down.

Sidenote....100th post.

I'm gonna have to feel that little plastic panel next time I hear a certain little rattle that seems to be coming from the driver's door, but only at highway speeds.
Kept thinking that something's loose somewhere and vibrating at certain speeds, but I have yet to figure out where it's coming from ... if it's this little piece I'll be stoked!! lol

I am sure some double sided tape would suffice as well as long it's thick enough.

Ya, I thought double sided tape might work. But I had the felt squares readily available.

The problem with this is if you need to remove the thing, it's *much* harder to do than the velcro. Much. Unless, of course, you don't undo the backing of one side... but then it's just a piece of weatherstripping, and you might as well just get some of that, hm? Like this maybe:

I like the velcro, it keeps it *put* and you can still take it off easy
