Door Panel comparisons

I notice two different door panels. Why the change? Is it the IUP? The 2nd one is very boring.

First ones leather, er, vinyl... I believe it comes with cars having leather seats.

The second one is plastic... comes with bare bones cars having cloth seats.

Pretty sure the first one is the IUP interior. That is what mine looks like and I have cloth seats, so the leather thing is not true.

there is even one level above that, the premier trim w/color accent package. among other things, the side armrest is covered in that vinyl too.

i dont have a pic of it, but i know there are some on this forum floating around.

i was thinking the same thing, but if you look closely, they dont look to be 100% carbo fiber. it looks like a sticket of some sort. if you look at the one for the window switches, the carbon fiber doesn't extend to the whole cover, just the top portion.

i could be wrong though.

Oh no, carbon fiber. Please excuse me while I poke my eyes out. I know the first panel is included with the IUP so I have to assume the other is without (base interior).

Question Since the subject of door panels has come up...

I am 6'3 1/2" inches tall with long legs and size 14 feet wonder how long it would take for those speakers on the premium cars to be scuffed up or even damaged from me getting in and out of the car?

I am planning to order a new GT coupe and might end up with a Deluxe Coupe because they don't have the big speajer on the front door.

They don't stick out that far. I have hit mine a few times but even if they were not there I would have hit the door panel anyways. At least if you have the grilles and you scuff them up, you can always just replace the grille. A lot cheaper than replacing the entire door panel.

I'm roughly the same size as you, and my shaker500 door speakers are fine after a year of ownership.

The Shaker 500 door subs don't stick out as bad as you would think. I'm 6'2 and I touch the speakers with my feet on occasion. No major scuffs or scratches that I have noticed.

You wont have any problem hitting the speakers in this car more than any other really. I actually kinda like the first one, but I want the rest of the IUP. I think the plain panel would fit the look I want in mine a little better. I assume other than that piece, the rest of the door panels are the same, wonder if IUP and non-IUP door panels could be swapped...

I've got those panels, although I also have the IUP.

I'm only 5'6" and I manage to hit the door subs from my Shaker500. No harm done.

You just have to be a touch careful with anything you do getting in and out of any car to keep it nice. Half the things that make a car look old or battered come from clumsily scuffing stuff with your feet, jewelry, or an errant car key(which can do serious damage to a car's interior).

As for the panels, top is any IUP car, bottom is base, Premier simply replaces the padded door armrest for a softer one with stitched vinyl with a pronounced texture. Be thankful the stuff is not leather, it will last 10 times longer.
