I bought my '05 GT in late March. About a week ago I noticed that my driver side (outside) door handle hadn't snapped back all the way. I can push it back in of course, but that's just ghetto. Every time I open the car door it stays extended out. Maybe a rod or spring or something broken in there? I need to take it back in for the strut popping anyway so I guess I can kill 2 birds with one stone

I have not had that problem. I would have the dealer look at it.

i have seen this issue on other sites as well; it appears to be a problem with many mustangs and will need to be dealt with.

Jared.......took mine in yesterday for the same problem and the gas tank, too. They said the entire door handle assembly would have to be replaced. Waiting for parts now. Hopefully soon. Bought mine Apr. 7 and now have 2800 miles on her. Been having the problem about a week.

I just had my driver's side door handle replaced today (under warranty) for the same issue. I noticed the problem about 2 weeks ago and took it to my dealer. They had to order a new handle (which comes pre-painted from the factory so the color matches). Take the car to your dealer and they will fix it.

January Build

March pickup from dealer

Same problem as of June.

Yeah, I have to get it fixed too, tried lubrication, but it is more of a fit issue than a slide issue. Seems like it is rubbing on the back of the handle, where it meets the mating part of the arc.

Pretty funny, I have an appointment tomorrow to get my drivers side handle and struts fixed! I'm guessing their gonna have to order the parts. On a side note, when explaining the strut popping, I mentioned to the lady about the service bulletin. She very angrily told me there were no recalls or TSB's for my car! Can't wait to shove my TSB printout from the Source in her face!

Mine did the same thing! Good to know I am not the only one. I thought something I did messed it up. It started doing it the day after I had washed it. I had taken my car in for the front end TSB and gas tank TSB, and they replaced the door handle at that time. All fixed now.

I've got the same problem too. Started today, and car only has 3k miles on it. First warranty issue.

Everytime I've taken my Stang in to get a TSB taken care of the dealer was very impressed and happy that I had a copy of the TSB.

I noticed today that my door handle seems loose.. the passenger side is tight. Thought it was just my car, but seems like a widespread problem.

Wow, funny to see this being reported by so many people - noticed it on a car on the LOT yesterday...one marked with a "SOLD" sign on it. Guess this person will have an early issue to deal with.

What I'm wondering about is that if it's a widespread problem, will fixing it under warranty really fix it? Or will the replacement part just exhibit the same problem a few more clicks down the road?
